How about Epic Speed, future era start using the Next War mod, random Fractal map, and minimal advanced start points? This would get us right to the future era, but we'd still get to enjoy the exploration of the map and buildup of our empire? And before anyone whines about the lack of tech rate - obviously it will suck at first, but will slowly get better, and thats all part of the strategy considering we have limited techs left to learn anyway! thoughts?

I don't care about the slow tech rate, I care about the extreme cost of Settlers. Also with a Future era start we all already have Satellites which reveals the world map for us, so really we would have to start in the Modern era for exploration. Otherwise I'm liking this idea.

Alright guys, currently it looks like this:

We will use PBEM-Tracker, play with the Next War mod, start in either Industrial, Modern or Future, epic speed, large or huge, Fractal with all victory conditions. Furthermore we check Advanced Start with less points than default, Raging Barbarians, No Technology Trading and Require complete Kills. Everyone okay with that so far? We also still need to decide about whether we put AIs in too.

I'm fine with the settings choices.

I would propose the following:
- Random Civ's
- Number of AI's = number of human players
- Play with a max number of human players of 8. It's already a lot so the PBEM will take a loooong time.

No way am I playing a Modern starting era game with anything but an Imperialistic leader, that trait really shines when you consider that you basically get a discount for every building your new cities start with.

Well, random would make it more ... fair? No ability to chose preferred traits -- we can even go with unrestricted leaders. Random everything! DO not chicken out, real leaders get born without being able to chose their tribe or their talents, they just beat up every one around them and leave it to historians to describe their traits!

I hope you pride yourself in your deep rooted idealism, disdain for cheating and rock-solid principles . While we on this can we please ban reloading of the current turn except for technical reasons? No cutting corner house rule, you know...
