The Gilded Age

A man accepts the inevitability of history, a parasite asks "but didnt the germans have free will?"

did you just call me a parasite?

Let me ask you a simple question. Is a man not entitled to make vast, sweeping claims? No, says the man in The Chamber: he has to cite sources; no, says the man in World History: he has to know what he's talking about; no, says the man in Arts & Entertainment: he has to discuss ponies.

Well, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... The Tavern.

what was the joke?

The Germans had free will, yes. Doesn't change the fact that had we not attacked them in WWI, they would have ended up making a better choice.
Even prior to American involvement Germany was running into some pretty serious social/economic issues that definately would need to be addressed once the war was over. I would in fact argue that American involvement helped Germany as it forced the war to close earlier(ie: Germany hadn't falled apart) and we at least tried to get an equitable peace treaty.

Me too.

And if Hitler's mother had had a migraine nine months before his birth, he also never would've come to power.

I don't think Alois would have cared considering the kind of person he was.

Now if his mother had an abortion on the other hand.....

That sounds like Ayn Rand to me... that aside, I smiled.

Looks quite interesting Kait, thanks for sharing :)

This is the gem of the thread so far:
At least until the entire unregulated stock market crashed, brought around global economic collapse and the rise of Hitler. Just saying.
World War One created Hitler...

It's like that joke:
You stupid, delusional, smelly, fat idiot!
I'm not fat!

Actually Henry the Eighth pointed out the truism.

If 'a' private individual owns more money than the existing government,
then there will be problems.

The obvious solution, is to make certain, that the Gov always has more money.

We should have stopped there instead of going into: who could spend the most money.
