I love you guys, you're so awesome!

I don't think too many folks will be able to make it to contre's.

That makes it a little liquored live Lynch launch lunch.

I hate pun trains, but this is actually enjoyable.

Dune is one of Lynch's best. Without that, I doubt I'd find this little liquored live Lynch launch lunch lorth lontinuing lo lead le lread lor.

:hmm: I may have misunderstood.

Enough is enough. When will the web be up?

k so I might as well do this

The first beta version of the site is up and running!

The gallery doesn't work yet, so you might as well ignore it. I will have to work on it once I have some time, maybe after I get the first pic from contre.

The map should work well enough, but if there's any bugs, let me know. It's just meant to show the path of the yeti, so nothing super fancy. There will be more functionality added in the near (and probably far) future.

Most data entered by contre, so if something's wrong content-wise , complain to him :p

What happens if it takes the wrong turn at Albuquerque?
Well, our yeti friend will then end up in Truth or Consequences, Madrid, or Cuba unless, of course, he turns east and finds himself on Rt 66 heading towards Texas.

Spoiler :
If he really gets lost, he could find himself gambling in Pojoaque.

I am disappoint, warpus. everybody knows Kan lives in Aberdeen, not Edinburgh. :p

I like how the mouse over on the pointer indicates that nobody is in New Zealand

His name makes it read like an underachieving 'thar be dragons here'.

Most of the data has been entered by contre - I built him a cool little admin tool where he's able to change existing entries, people's names, coordinates, add new entries, remove existing ones, change the order, etc. So all of the above comments should be directed at him.

Any ideas for the site, though? I initially built it cause I'm addicted to maps and last time around the whole thing would have been a lot more fun for me to track if there was a map. And there was, Lucy made it, but it was static and not in an easy accessible location. Or maybe it was, but I can be lazy :p But yeah, feel free to discuss ideas.

I'm already implementing the following:

1. The yeti's current location will be marked on the map
2. The path the yeti has already travelled will turn green
3. The gallery will be connected to the map in several ways

I'm not sure when I'll have time to do this, but I've learned quite a bit about the new API I'm trying out for this thing (gmap3) and there's a lot of exciting possibilities, not only for this, but for future projects of mine. I've been meaning to put up a travel blog/site/thing, and the knowledge gained here will help me get that project started. So, win/win

I'm geting it from Barcelona? Cool. There is a good chance i will have some of my friends there.

So, are we only supposed to upload one image during the yeti's visit, or can we document his whole stay?

Depending on when he arrives, he might stay with me for up to a week. There's a lot to do here... :mischief:

I think contre said it's fine if you do more than 1 pic but I'm not sure.

Too bad the yeti won't get to me by this Sunday - the World Figureskating Championships are being held here in London right now - would have given me plenty of cool photo ops for the yeti.

So many places to take a pic of the yeti... you wanna see the Sagrada Familia? The beach? A panoramic view of Barcelona?

Very good! I'll be in Oxford, though, not Bristol (that's later this year, and probably now not going to happen anyway).

Well, you wouldn't be getting it until later this year. Trust me. It's months away. If it doesn't happen, I'll be happy to change it.

Ahahaha! You used my whole location. XXX OOO

It's not going to stay. I just wanted to humour you.

I am disappoint, warpus. everybody knows Kan lives in Aberdeen, not Edinburgh. :p

Oops. I knew that. I was just putting in close-enough coordinates to fill out the map.

So, are we only supposed to upload one image during the yeti's visit, or can we document his whole stay?

I would think 1 or 2 pictures to the site, as many as you want in this thread. I don't want the gallery there spammed with 20 entries from one user.

So many places to take a pic of the yeti... you wanna see the Sagrada Familia? The beach? A panoramic view of Barcelona?

Where ever you want! That's the point! Personally, I'm going to get a landmark in and then something completely stupid.

I'm gonna take the panoramic view then, it's quite impressive. And then... dunno.
