Anyone have any experience undergoing physiotherapy? A short description would be most appreciated.

I have.. I am currently seeing a physiotherapist for my knee.

Your first appointment will include a screening/investigation to find out what's wrong.

After that there are a few things that can happen
  • They find out what it is. You'll get a series of appointments where you'll do exersices that will fix the problem. :D
  • They find out what it is but you don't want any more appointments. You'll probably get some advise on a few exercises you can do at home and about what you can and can not do. :undecide:not advisable. I did this an within a year I'm back...
  • They don't find out what it is.... If you have a good physiotherapist he/she'll refer you to another who they think have more knowledge of the particular area of you body that's being annoying :) If you have a bad physiotherapist, he/she'll not admit that he doesn't know but tells you you're just whining. if that's the case  tell him/her to **** off and go to another physiotherapist

That last thing actually happened to a friend of mine....

Sounds rough. I hope they're doing well.

But I thought people go to the physiotherapist knowing what their condition is? I just have a healing broken ankle with metal braces implanted by surgery, so there's probably not too much screening to do. Or did you mean which kind of movement is deficient? Anyway, thanks for the answers. I'm also curious about the next steps and when they decide you've improved enough. :)

Well I finally convinced her to see another one and this one thinks he knows what it is.. so she'll be doing better pretty soon I hope.
(The kicker is, she is a physiotherapy student.... ever tried to convince a physiotherapist to go see a physiotherapist?? stubborn B*s***ds)

well.. yeah.. that's also a possibility..
I just skipped the middle (aka doctor, hospital) because I kind of new what I had, or at least I knew that I didn't have to go to the doctor cause he would have referred me :p

No I did mean they screen what the problem is... but I guess that's a bit redundant in your case :p

any time :)

about the next steps.
I guess they'll still do some tests. Just to see what your ankle can handle, how flexible it is and that sort of thing.
After that you'll train the muscles and such with exercises..
If I have to guess, you'll probably have to wear weights during those exercises (but that's just guessing :))

I'm not sure when they decide you've improved enough.. I think when you're able to walk properly for a time and the changes of a setback are gone/minimal.

I know a few people who study physiotherapy, so if you like I could ask them when I see them :)

That would be very great, thanks. You're the most helpful person I've seen on this thread. :D

I think that they can be described as "metal" insofar as they had metal influences and were themselves a big influence on metal. My own crude distinction would be "metal but not heavy metal", but that might not actually make sense outside of my head.

That would be very great, thanks.

I asked her on msn about it and she said. are you ready for this?.. you sure?... "When the goals of the patient have been reached"* :deadhorse:

(losely quoted since I currently don't have acces to my msn chathistory)

I'll see her Friday I'll try to get a decent answer out of her ;p otherwise maybe tuesday when I see a bunch of them at a party

stop it
I don't believe that

I think I'll find out the goals when I get there. I'm curious for some details on the exercises and treatments though. Once again, thanks for the help. :)

Is there such thing as being overqualified and why do hiring managers toss that "overqualified" word around?

Is there such thing as being overqualified and why do hiring managers toss that "overqualified" word around?

Yeah, there is, but it's not very hard to deal with as a job hunter.

If you think you're overqualified for jobs you're not getting offers for, apply to jobs with higher qualifications. If you still don't get offers, either you're doing something wrong, or you weren't overqualified in the first place.

Is there such thing as being overqualified and why do hiring managers toss that "overqualified" word around?

Yes, the so-called "overqualification" problem exists because companies don't want to hire someone who only wants to have a better job (aka one in their actual field of study or with better pay) and because that someone doesn't actually want the job the company is offering, merely the wage.

If you need job experience, take something where people work often only temporarily, like crocery clerk. They have accepted the fact that people necessarily aren't long time employees.

There is one question that I been asked a couple of times but I don't know the answer. Why is it than in American films whenever a criminal tries to flee the country they always try to go to Mexico and not Canada?

According to wikipedia Mexico doesn't extradite foreign criminals if they might get executed. Also Panama doesn't have an extradition treaty with the USA so there isn't a formal process or obligation to extradite a criminal. Source: Prison Break

We extradited the president for life of Panama. While he was still in office, no less. :mischief:
