Yeah, I intend to keep the egg upright by making sure the bubblewrap/peanut butter combo is wrapped fairly tightly around it, hopefully it will remain upright on impact.

AP Physics.

Also, how could I simulate the force of impact without actually dropping off a 75 ft tall building?

Is 75 ft the amount of time it takes to reach terminal velocity?

I've calculated that the highest velocity it could hit the ground with is 21.38 m/s, but I'm not entirely sure how realistic that is.

So, a couple of sketchy calculations later... It seems that drag would slow it by about 2 m/s, and there would be about 22 lbs of force on impact (this was assuming that it takes .1 seconds for it to decelerate). This seems pretty easily testable given the little weight set my family has.

If I may ask, will this help you in the real world :)?

Well, I feel pretty set on engineering, so this is sort of a test of thinking skills more than anything else. It is in no way practical unless I somehow end up in the extreme egg protection industry, which seems fairly unlikely. That being said, it's pretty fun.

Do you guys think that this setup would protect an egg from a 65-75 ft fall?

Spoiler :

Blue is bubblewrap, brown is peanut butter, white semiboxes are marshmallows and the dark yellow is cornstarch and water

Have you considered retrorockets or a parachute?

How about this:

Stick a Egg in a cannon and yank the cord? See if you can fly it out without having it mosh up! :king:

Garabe: of high quality? As in what "hipsters" say? Interesting.

And Superman. All the way.

Milkman, Postman, Garbage man?

(Mr E speaks fluent hipster)

edit: er, sorry that should be: Garabe man.

Hey, don't hijack Mr E's thread with all this garabe about superheroes.

Concentrate people!

Which do you prefer Milkmen, Postmen or Garabe men? Either in or outside Switzerland, Croatia, or Italy, as your preferences go.

With or without cashews? And which country, don't forget?

If you make it garbage men, I think I would miss them the most if they went away - so that. And Imma pick Canada. <pbbbbt>
