Tsar Cannon
This is a .89 Cal.... measured in meters.

We already have one of these.

The Harrier Jump Jet. Which two of my uncles worked on the designs for. (Bet you didn't want to know that.)

It could reach 30,000 feet in five minutes, was infamous for exploding and melting pilots
with corrosive propellants...But the Me163 Komet set the pace for modern combat aircraft
to follow and helped shape the future of jet combat.

The Mighty German Battleship Bismarck

Curt: How about the Bf-109 or Me-109, the two best dogfighters of the early years of the war.

This is a nice one too:

Well, more than two.

(More bars, in more places  )

Perfection: did you read the article about those in Military Heritage Magazine? That's the exact same photo. (About the Davy Crockett that is.) Also, if memory serves, I don't think they actually used the Tsar Cannon in battle. Have you heard of the Ottoman Basilisk? It is surprisingly similar.

Roger that - Since you requested!

One of the most mass-produced fighters in aviation history, the Bf-109
was built even after the war for Spain, France and the Israeli airforce.
Here is an excellently restored and long-retired 109, in an aero-museum.

A pretty rough and ready Fw-190, about to take off! Few fighters
looked as mean and business like as this bird - A real classic design.

Did you know that if you slide a piece of paper between the pilot of the Super Cobra and the wall of the cockpit you'll never get the pilot out?

How about this:

Curt: You need not remind me of what they look like, it is permanently etched into my memory. I was just a little surprised that you posted the Komet and not one of those.

I must admit though, the Fw looks very similar to the Thunderbolt. Also, don't you this looks a little more mean (the P-38 Lightning mind you):

Likewise, as stated Curt. They sure don't build them like they used to. The dogfighting days are over, now you push a button and kill the bandit before you even see them. Pity.

I agree 100% - The true age of the knight of the sky was WW1.
Medieval military mindsets, with industrial age flying machines...!

Here is a plane that some may associate with my 'Enemy Ace' persona!

Why do my posts keep disappearing? More importantly, why was a more than year old thread revived?
