The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

Spoiler :
OK, so its Tux and not Thomas who is in the guild - don't know where I got that from.

Yellow Square Guild Member is about to lose ~30 ships for minimal losses to myself. I've outflanked him with my fleet, I've got a larger fleet heading north and I'm confident of pushing into his core over the next few days.

May I ask, have the guild said anything about helping out their guy over here? Have they said anything about attacking Thomas?

EDIT:

Ultimately, that multi-account guy is going to be the greatest threat :/ 'Shadows' alone has 35 41! Economy last time I checked - thought I was doing well with 25. I guess its one player doing a whole load of trading with himself? He's on the same IP as 'Reavers' which conveniently quit after probably giving all its money to 'Shadows'.

Purple Hex was actually in the guild and attacked Red Hex. They booted Purple and picked up Ophorian.

Spoiler :
Orange Hex is launching an attack at me with 71 ships, at weapons 1. My reinforcments should arrive at that star an hour before his attack does, and Ill be at 85 ships with weapons 2. I'm going to launch an immediate offensive after defeating his ships. Thoughts?

Should be good even if someone in the guild passes him Weapons 2. EDIT: Defensively that is. Not sure what he has hidden behind your view for his defense.

I've not seen any chatter about thomas or daftpanzer at the moment, but the thread I'm in does not include Yellow Square.

Simulations suggest that's a slaughter for his ships, even if he does tech up :viking:. Let me know if you need any help, I don't think I can physically send any ships without ploughing through your star systems (let me know if you have a route of worthless/undeveloped stars - can potentially send ~40 ships starting tomorrow).

Thanks - Yellow Square seems to be sending ships at me without much thought. We're fighting with small fleets over worthless stars at the moment, but I'm brining in the big guns soon.

Hmm, have fun annihilating him with those 62 survivors since fleets run on the tech they were launched at, and do not update until they reach a star.

Also, people tend to go research first, since the quicker tech levels give a huge advantage at the start, and using them allows you to easily surpass the economy/industry first types. Especially since every banking technology gives you 75 extra credits a production, and higher weapons = fast and early expansion.

Yeah, I can see that now. I was put off at the start when it was saying something like 5 days to research any tech. Of course, a couple of science investments and that comes right down to ~2 days.

Still, techs are trading cheap in this game? I think I've been offered $50 for most any tech I could want right now. Everyones researching something, I guess there's an abundance of supply in a 64 player game :)

I dislike the idea of guilds and multi account suicide AIs. I will notify the google plus group at once.

Also, techs are 15*level for trades. I remember when weapons were 100 and others 75 for even level 2 techs. So yeah, quite jarring for 50 credit trades.

Strong economy strategy is still worth weak science if you are willing to spend money on techs the first week or so.

If you can't see the game, I built up industry turn one to crush Pink Star with shadow kind and currently have the largest fleet out there.

Last time I played, and it looks like the only large change since then has been a buff for banking from $50 to $75, I went for a hardcore sci rush (6 sci on day 3 iirc). The only reason I didn't die a horrible death to the player that went snowball eco, and at one point had more eco than the rest of the players combined, was due to superior reinforcement strategy. Despite all his end-game industry he couldn't get new ships out to the front in less than a day. My little assembly line and gratuitous use of warp gates meant that I had ships fighting on the other side of the galaxy at most 9 hours after they got produced.

Other big changes: Standard star formula changed to make range more important, experimentation made to be more decisive (same research per day, but all put into one tech), Warp Gates are made cheaper, people start with Scanning 2 instead of Scanning 1, and the scanning formula is shifted.

I hope they at least update Neptune's Pride Classic with the new UI. It's just so sexy, I feel dirty every time I use it.

I can sell you the 4 techs you are missing for 50 credits each. Since it's a bulk buy, I'll give you a discount so that would be 190 credits. :)

I'm stalemated. I'm supposed to have 300+ ships but I'm struggling to gather 100 on my north front. I sent 80 ships against an AI, only to find its got a ton of ships, has upgraded weapons and seems to be shadowing my fleet movement...

Improved AI is something I do approve of, however. Makes things fairer and more interesting when we have all these leavers.

What the AI does is that it automatically sends ships to balance fleet numbers on all planets. So if you take their system, it counts for a brief second as belonging to them but has 0 ships, so they "retaliate".

Anyway, I kept notes!

I "quickly" gathered an invasion fleet of 200 ships in three fleets and invaded Pink Star. 2 carriers of 40 ships each and 1 assault carrier of 120 ships headed for their core systems. My feint north worked, and it seems like their main fleets are stuck between Shadowbound and my skirmishers while my main fleet goes for their core.

Meanwhile, I started a bank. Right now, ALL economy investments are bank funded. I have so far paid out 13 credits in interest for loans, and upgraded my economy 4 times to get 40 Credits Per Turn. Booya.

One thing I just thought up is the ability to create a "Space Station" as a way point between distant stars. If I did, I can reduce my reinforcement "loop" from 4 carriers down to 3.

Green Triangle, or Ravniscool, is a very good business partner.

EDIT: Also, I used "Eminently Reasonable" a lot, so it seems like a catchphrase now. :p

EDITEDIT: Hey Daft, I still owe you a favor and I'm getting Scanning3. Just so you know.

I both like working with Green Triangle, and despise what my position in in relation to him. He and Orange Hex are slowly advancing at an angle that will cut my only open option for expansion. Luckily pink diamond dropped so I can move that way, though Green Triangle will beat me to all the good systems.

I need Hyperspace, guyzzzzz -and Terraforming.

Actually I'd rather have Scanning 3 which I see you got. How much for that?

Sorry, I dun got the money. Tomorrow.
