The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

It is. It is the new map type. Long, and betraying your way to the top is not a good strategy. Also tuxedo, remove the purple guys that are attacking Tunafishsalad from the alliance.

I'm waiting to find out if Green Square has been added. He claims that he has been asked. Once I know, I'll update the map.

I honestly hope he wasn't, that will force me to be boxed in then.

They prioritize Ophorian over green square.

EDIT: This post was meant to be "I hope they [...]"

An analysis of my (and Thomas's) nearest neighbours:

Everyone is investing in science early, am I missing something? Some people have four (4) science bases. I thought it pays to get your economy snowballing in the first couple of days, since you can always catch up later and still end up with more money..? Back in NP1, any time I tried investing in science early, it didn't turn out well...

Anyhow. The situation now seems to force me into expanding aggressively, to get the most leverage out of my eco and industry, before the 'Guild' that Thomas is part of becomes too much of a technological powerhouse. Thus I'm attacking Yellow Square right now. The only problem is that is part of the 'Guild', which is also Thomas's alliance...

I thought you were a double agent? :)

EDIT: I see where early tech comes in handy. Seems like in NP2, you have more stars that are 'just out of range', so Range tech can payoff with bigger initial expansion. And the new Banking tech can give you a hefty cash bonus as an alternative to colonising and building up Eco. And also, Weapons - is it just me, or have they tweaked it so there's a bigger advantage with each Weapons level? I think that was being discussed in the in-game thread. I've run some battle calculations and found I'm going to be haemorrhaging a whole load of ships to Defender Advantage if I'm not careful.

In about an hour, I will be assaulting a planet with 26 ships with a carrier that carries 50 ships. I'm afraid of what will happen next.

You lose, unless you have weapons level too. BTW there is a combat calculator built into the sexy UI. When you open the detailed carrier screen, there are three buttons on top. A question mark, a cancel mark, and what looks like a list with lines. This list thing is your calculator.

Precisely. I had enough advantage, but then he brought more ships to the system when I was already in space. Goddammit. BUT I HAVE MORE SHIPS. I WILL TAKE THAT SYSTEM NO MATTER WHAT.

I think it is too late, but I have weapons tech, JoanK and can make you win your attack.

$15 per level of tech

So for the Lvl 2 tech everyone is passing about, they had to spend $30 to give it.

Blue Star just sent me this:
Have you noticed that Shadows, Reavers, General Malevolence, Volus and Vorlons all share the same IP? Also, they have unusually high econ for this point in the game.

Updated Guild map. I'll edit the other new maps to this post as I get them finished.
Purple Hex is out of Guild with Ophorian (Pink Cross) replacing him.

Yay, I get to face three Guild guys on my own. D:

Also, the situation has been averted. The guy's hit Weapons 2 too, but superior numbers can all.

OK, so its Tux and not Thomas who is in the guild - don't know where I got that from.

Yellow Square Guild Member is about to lose ~30 ships for minimal losses to myself. I've outflanked him with my fleet, I've got a larger fleet heading north and I'm confident of pushing into his core over the next few days.

May I ask, have the guild said anything about helping out their guy over here? Have they said anything about attacking Thomas?

EDIT:

Ultimately, that multi-account guy is going to be the greatest threat :/ 'Shadows' alone has 35 41! Economy last time I checked - thought I was doing well with 25. I guess its one player doing a whole load of trading with himself? He's on the same IP as 'Reavers' which conveniently quit after probably giving all its money to 'Shadows'.

Orange Hex is launching an attack at me with 71 ships, at weapons 1. My reinforcments should arrive at that star an hour before his attack does, and Ill be at 85 ships with weapons 2. I'm going to launch an immediate offensive after defeating his ships. Thoughts?

Have no mercy. (?)
