The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

Hell no, the people of the Mayan Federal Republic would revolt and dethrone me if I spend that much gold so frivolously on outdated military :D

That's three turns of 100% research toward Chemistry; got to prepare for the American spawn soon!

This guy...

is impressive!

Well, IMHO you could always hire him and then upgrade him. For the looks of it he's like Rambo or something. Ask for some gold from the other Civs, luckily you'll be able to fund raise at least 200gp :D (That is, if you haven't been extremely evil with the world and all...)

More fun with 600AD capital placement, this time preventing southern Iran from flipping to me. I guess the Turks got kicked out of Istanbul and decided to move their capital as far away from the invaders as possible. Why their capital is outside their still-controlled historical territory (and how they're still stable) is a mystery to me.

At least I won't have trouble capturing it.

Capital always gets moved to highest population city - Shiraz has a potential to grow to about size 16, so that explains it.

More surprising is that it is undefended (although it's probably because you flipped their muskets).

Mongkut can be quite... disruptive... sometimes.

Next time I play as Prussia, I want to flip a stack like that too.

!Lucky!

Dublin's in a horrible spot though.
Why didn't you opt for 1N?
I'm assuming that you settled a 4th city in Britain as well.
Try sending your Settler to South Africa first, it makes a big difference.

I can get Plymouth working pretty well and it is a lot faster than South Africa. It will usually whip missionaries to head for China, which both gives me more votes in the AP (no early wars and if not major opponent unhappiness) and gives access with East Asia for tech trade.

I don't know; it happens more often that you lose contact while you have units right next to a civilization. Should be restored next turn when they settle there, at least.

Just move a unit near them and it should restore contact.
Yes, the HRE occasionaly settle Ebenezer; I've already seen it twice.
Prussians also seem to show some interest in Central America.

Holy Rome lost the colony twice to mohawks. Then they collapsed and the city went independent - with my african reinforcements in it. Three knights and three grenadiers lost :( I reloaded to make the galleons choose a different route. Alas, I had to abandon the game a little later due to irreparable stability issues. Back to the drawing board...
