The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

Noticing the overpowered Ottomans again, I wonder how frequent of an occurence it is for the Ottomans to always be able to "fly" forward in terms of technology and power. Unlike in 1.17 where they always seem to have an overextension and stability issue very oftenly making them collapse to the core by XVIII century, in 1.18 they seem to barely have any struggles all the time, not even having civs like Egypt or Greece respawning to make it harder for them
Ottomans have much less OE now (i think), coz they expand much more slowly. They dont expand to Persia and Maghreb (no land route) now, and don't take control over whole Arabian lands

Ottoman core is even better now, and there’s so many civs that respawns usually don’t happen for old civs like Greece. So an unstable Ottomans can shamble along into the 19th century easily.

I’ve been noticing the early Muslim wonders don’t get built too.

@banzay13 is big fan of Epic/Marathon games so there probably isn't any relevant insights to yank out of this single screenshot.

Also be advised that Santa def puts kiddos that get their post and thread topics mixed up on the Naughty List.

Sorry I couldn't help but catch the moment this screen popped up to pay attention to the Ottomans, it doesn't seem like a working idea to me to just grab the screenshot of another person and go to a different thread when all the stuff is here sooo...

Hmmm you've made a strong case and the judge has declared a bad-court-thingy (dismissed). I talked to Santa but he's keeping you on the naughty list for the hyperbole in the second sentence. He worries about 1.18 Ottomans routinely failing their initial expansion phase.

I don't speak the court language D:

Hitler declare war to Russia and made first Nuclear strike with ICBM, but something goes wrong... Miscalculated, but where?
Actually, he is really mad. Nuked twice per turn Africans indy and native cites and didn't capture them. For many many turns. Constantly. Until I captured all his colonies everywhere. That's global warming coz those strikes made me mad) and I had to stop it

It is the most nonsense, straight out of the early 2000s, mechanic in this game. My DoC dream is divorcing anthropogenic climate change from nuclear weapons (and getting rid of the random deserts it causes).
Only thing I remember reworking that mechanic is this mod, which was included in BAT

Tibet conquering Mumbai with their starting stack has to be super rare right?

Unfortunately after taking it from the Independents on spawn it was barbarian for a while

I have seen Tibetan cities in India several times while playing in SE Asia. It's one of the only places they can go if China doesn't collapse.

For all you Byzzie Simps out there, your bae is hanging on into the 16th century.

For those wondering how, Byz vassalized to Mongols on same turn as Ottoman spawn and DoW, which removed Constantinople from Otto expansion on top of the brake granted by truce. Meanwhile Arabia had not only hung on but thrived, blocking Otto expansion in that direction. IIRC Ottos were brawling with various Christian civs and also never got access to Iron.

If Ottomans can’t grab Damascus or Thessalonika early they will never get iron and are worn down over time by HRE, Poland, and sometimes Italy, who usually declare war on them.
