The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

Spain has failed to acquire Cordoba, so it captured Montpellier from France.

No need for a screenshot, and rather minor, but I just witnessed AI Italy send a Great Merchant to the legendary, far-off, uncharted land of...Paris.
I'm fairly certain the GM trading mission "formula" has changed to favor other factors besides distance/population size. It must have been in 1.16 or 1.17 because it was not a changed I expected when I came back to DOC last year.

There is a troubling situation, in general, with civic choices. Most leaders disregard their favorite civic, which bothers me a lot :twitch:. There is notable lack of civic selection diversity in the world. Totalitarianism preferred across the board. And yes, for the human player the best way to avoid any religious animus is to run your folk (pagan) religion! Everybody loves China now.
Man in the High Castle tier of world

Autoplayed a China start to 2010 to check on the nuke update before realising it hasn't been pushed yet. Came back as the Celts (collapse & rebirth glitch?) who were at war with Iran for some reason. France was dominating Europe and the world with an interesting vassal list...

France and their vassals hated Spain while being seemingly blind to the Russian threat slowly infiltrating them
It does make me think Hitler should refuse to vassalise under all circumstances. Or if he becomes leader to an already vassal Germany, should attempt to break away at the first opportunity

That's like Vichy Germany. I find it hilarious.

Playing a Japan game, marathon speed, 3000 BC start. Notice that China is very powerful. Suddenly I get a cascade of errors. Go into world builder to figure out what's going on. Somehow, China conquered a city in central america before 1000 AD. And all of europe is still orthodox, so somehow Catholicism is founded by the chinese invaders in the new world.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out...

Playing a chill Malays game on Marathon/Regent, when suddenly, China circumnavigated the world in 878.
By 923 they also discovered the Economics, the Scientific Method by 1055, and now completely control Central America.

Read it happened on higher difficulties but that's impressive

Welcome to forums! :band: [party]

P.S. For the balance purposes it is rather a nuisance.

China’s weird like that. They’re always constantly behind in tech or incredibly ahead with no in-between. Largely depends on the start date but it’s no guarantee.

Well, the fifth emir of the Aghlabid dynasty Abul Abbas did sack Miseno (near Naples) in 800s. He also raided Rome. The real question is how do you play Prussia in 760? :faint: Interrupted autoplay?
