No landline.

4 year old Nokia. Got used to getting around a nokia's functions years ago and couldn't be bothered learning new tricks. But I'm really noticing how disadvantaged I am in business not having e mail and Internet access at all times so I'm contemplating making a change

On the upside, you'll never go back when you do get email/internet on your phone.
On the downside, you'll never go back when you do get email/internet on your phone.

I've got a two year old Samsung Intensity II, Camera, Qwerty keyboard, although it is not a smart phone.

When I got enough money, (because my contract has expired) I am purchasing either an I-Phone or a Samsung Galaxy s3, not exactly sure which I want to buy though ;)

I have a Sony X-Peria which is a few years old, which I use mostly for music and internet usage. It does have battery that lasts forever, which is a big plus since I never charge it.

I have an iPhone 4S, got it about five months ago. I use it all the time for internet access, directions, a Japanese dictionary, use the camera, Facebook, etc., etc.

¥5000 a month is a very small price to pay for something I depend on so much.

I have an LG Optimus with android. It works well enough for my needs and the price.

Haven't used landline for about 10 years. Use an Iphone 4s and pay under 60$ á month, everything included - phone usage, datatraffic and the mobile itself. 24months commitment. I like the phone and the deal. Minor issues only.

Where's the option for new phone, and less than $40/mo?

I have a cell phone which I keep in the car for emergencies. I have to use it once every 3 months to keep up with the prepaid subscription - so I ring my home number and pick up the landline phone very briefly; about the same time I recharge it. I've used it maybe 3 or 4 times other than that.

I'm not sure how long I've had it. Maybe 10 years? Don't remember.

Landline just sits there looking balefully at me. I renew the handset when it starts looking grubby. So not very often.

I used a very basic cell phone from 2005 to 2011 and then my cousin gave me his old iPhone. I probably wouldn't have bought one myself. I was considering to get a smartphone, but I was disinclined to pay extra for the apple hype.

I bought the land line phone in my bedroomtwenty one years ago, and the one in the living room is about ten.

I have a basic mobile which I purchased about four years ago for £30.

I have some very, very old Nokia phone...no idea how old, no idea what type it is. Doesn't really matter for me. It's more meant for emergencies than for anything else.

Have never considered buying a smartphone. Don't want to think about phone security, so a "dumbphone" works pretty good for me. I also don't need mobile internet. The nearly only occurences when I'm without the internet is on the way to work. And even if not, I think I could survive that time without the net.

My phone is an LG "Shine" and I have it for many years now It works very well and I can connect to web to a server they have, which is enough for me when I am not home. I don't really see a need for a smart phone.

I got rid of my lan line 1 month ago- mainly because I was upset (it was over a woman, but I'm back together with her). I know I shouldn't do things on impulse. Because I still think lan lines are worth while. If there is some local or national emergency all the cell phone lines will be clogged rendering my cell phone useless. Lan line is better. I'll eventually hook it up again I think.

I use an Android touch screen phone with Metro PCS. It's a Huawei M860 Android version 2.2.2. It's a pretty cheap phone I bought in June of 2011 for $99. I pay $50 a month for unlimited everything service.

The phone is slow, and requires patience. But I'm not going to be some elitist snob who goes around waving his fancy iphone 5 around for everyone to see. I have good enough access to the internet to be happy with it.

The thing about iphone users is they have to brag how much money they have to spend on a phone. I easily have enough money to buy an iphone, but I don't feel the need to flaunt my money and status for the whole world to see.

It's called being humble, look it up. No offense to any iphone users here.

Lessons on humility from the guy telling poor people to work "smarter" if they want to be rich.

It worked for me, it can work for anyone.

And yes, I am rich. :p I admit that isn't very humble, but I have to prove my point. Actually I'm not rich, but compared to what I grew up with, I am.

Time for a new one? When they start doing that they usually don't have much life left.

Anybody know why cell phones do that anyways? It's so weird and common.
I think it's called "planned obsolescence." ;)

I just have a landline. It's a basic thing that sits on the kitchen counter, anchored to the wall by a cord. I still carry coins in my purse for when I need to use a pay phone elsewhere (that's getting harder to do, since pay phones have become an endangered species).

I've been considering getting a cell phone, but my brain glazes over when I try to research what sort of gizmo might be best for me. Maybe when I find one that also does the dishes and cleans the litter box, as well as everything else phones do (besides letting you talk to people)...

I've had this current phone for just a year - had to replace the old one that finally died after 10-12 years of faithful service. And talk about hard to find a basic landline phone... the clerk at the store seemed to not be able to understand what I was talking about, when I said I wanted a landline that was not hooked to the internet, didn't have a camera, couldn't be typed on, or that needed to be charged so I could wander all over with it. I just wanted something that would sit as quietly as possible until I needed to use it and otherwise not bother me (and be inexpensive).

I called BS when she said she didn't think things like that were made anymore (or that WAL-MART didn't carry them!). So we wandered all around the phone department and I finally yelled at her when I found what I wanted: "SEE, THERE'S WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!!!"

Damn, I hate clerks who try to tell you crap just so they can try to make you buy pricier stuff you don't need. :gripe:
