Actually, it wasn't metal it was carbon, as in inanimate carbon rod ("I'll show you inanimate...!")

Yes, after stealing Homer's Employee of the Month spot, the carbon rod goes on to take credit for his 'heroism' in space.

No, I was actually being serious about that. I mean, I watched the episode, but didn't remember the details...and Gumby answer with the perfect answer, all the details. And I'm just blown away.
