The Speech that won the election

I honestly value a sense of humour and comedic talent in politicians. But Romney also made me genuinely laugh with the joke at the beginning of the first debate, which was quite well executed, so I won't deny he's capable of that too.

QFT. Unlike last time, when people didn't really care what his policies or (non-existent) credentials were and just voted for him because he was black, this time Obama actually has to come up with something of substance. If he doesn't give people a reason to vote for him, they won't. They will either vote for Romney or a third party or not vote at all.

Not more than a handful of people voted for Obama because he was black. Most of the people who voted for him did so because he was not a Republican.

I literally would vote for an empty chair if it had the best shot at unseating a Republican.

Nope!

Hah, hilarious.

I'll miss you Obama. I really will, and I want you to win.

But you won't. The fix is in. Perhaps not getting brutalized in the first debate would've helped, no?

EDIT: The spaced-out blonde who keeps twisting her hair is making it hard to take this seriously.

Obama has 70% chances of winning on fivethirtyeight! What insider information do you have that we don't?

You should be happy, not despaired. Your guy has a formidable advantage on the EV, even with a tied popular vote.

Given the state of your economy, he should be crushed, and yet is still the favorite. Democrats should be really really happy about how inapt the Republicans are.

Gallup shows a 51-45 lead for Romney at the moment.

Indeed it does, but it's an outlier poll and Gallup has performed poorly when it was an outlier in the past.

I am not saying it's impossible for Romney to win, he sure has a more than decent shot (and he does have half the votes), but Obama is the solid favorite due to EV mechanics (ironically the same anti-democratic relic that cost Gore the election is now helping Obama big time).

You must like boris johnson then
I don't know enough about Boris Johnson to have an opinion on him, actually.

Because Obama hasn't stopped bleeding and once Romney hits like 52% of the popular vote the thin edge Obama has in the EC will evaporate quicker than gay rights and Roe v. Wade.

That's my "insider" information.

As dismayed as I am to see the president of the United States acting like the folksy preachers of my youth, that punchline was effective.

I  with a sigh.

But Obama has stopped bleeding!

I am prone to despair sometimes as well, but you're overdoing it. Your team is winning!

I think it's more some kind of psychological preparation on his part, so that if Obama wins, he can be even happier, while in a Romney victory he can at least say "I told you so" and again revel in his fatalism.

Don't forget all the mandatory abortions and gay marriages.
I hope you're being sarcastic.

Anyways, If I were the president, I would have done the same thing. He has nothing left to use. Anything he says can and will be manipulated into something against him. And if he tries to compare his policies to Romney's, Mitten will just come back and say that that's a lie.
The bottom line is this: When your opponents campaign is a joke, you must come out and say just how ridiculous it really is.

Indeed. He's acting like an emo teenager.

Of course I am. That's just a parody of the right wing fear mongering. :cooool:

Nice save. We wouldn't want the GOP to find out about the brochure.

Or you could focus on a real issue where they are VERY different.
Such as illegal immigration =)

Ummm from the last few debates, Romney's doing his best to have the same immigration policy as Obama.
