Hmm. Guess I'll just call it a reverse Electra complex? :dunno:

I've known a number of men who've claimed to have a "special" relationship with their daughter.

"That's my girl" can be something said with pride, after all.

Aye, there's nothing really spectacular about a man being close with or fond of his daughter(s) (but I'm sure there're some who take it to questionable levels without going into full-blown incest).

Pedophile?
Perverted?
Possibly prosecutable?

Well, theoretically, it wouldn't be limited to fathers whose daughters are underage per se.... But possibly prosecutable, yeah.

Well, yes, but I think that's what it would tend to get called. Son to mother, daughter to father, mother to son, I think they are viewed fundamentally differently than father to daughter.

That is an interesting thing to think about what forms of incest are considered "worse" than the others and why.

I guess we could go with - Pulling a Woody?

Heh heh, that works too!

So, minor tech question.

I'm using Internet Explorer as my primary browser, and occasionally when I try and view youtube videos they come up as a blank screen with a grey dot and exclamation mark in the center of where the video would play. Sometimes I can make it go away by simply re-opening IE while other times I have to restart my computer. As far as I am aware, IE and Adobe are kept updated and there is no black screen coming up saying I have an outdated version of flash.
I don't think it is due to Adobe because youtube works just fine on firefox which I know I don't keep updated as I rarely use it.
Any ideas on what might be causing this or additional info I should include?

IE is causing this. The solution is to use firefox (or well anything)

Does Firefox support flash by now ?
I used Firefox for nearly a decade and then it started to crash constantly whenever flash player was required for something. I defected to Chrome, but I'm ready to come back if that issue is fixed.

It's supported Flash for ages. I occasionally have a few hiccoughs after a new update comes out, but other than that, I don't have any problems.

It officially supported flash fo ages, but for the past two years it really didn't.

Well, I guess that our experiences are different then.

Oh yeah, another solution would be to switch to HTML5 youtube and forget about flash, like anyone else in 2015 :p

Funny, I switched from Chrome to Firefox about 2 years ago, didn't notice any problems with Flash at all.

But yeah HTML5 video is the way forward. I disable flash by default, and set it to click-to-activate now, because most flash things are annoying and most good video sites have html5 anyway.

How do you pronounce "brutal" in english?
Nothing I can come up with sounds right.

Broo-t'll.

I found that easily becomes "broodle", and it sounds kind of wrong to overemphasise the t.

Sorry for making a fuzz of this, but I tried to say it earlier today, and it became either "broodle" or "brew-taahl"

Broodle is about right. At least when I say broodle it sounds like I'm saying brutal.

Don't emphasize the "t", but still leave it in. It's the "a" that gets dropped. At least in my accent.

Well, to use what people are saying here, "brootle" is is how you should say it, with a definite (but not over-stressed) T. Saying it with a D sound makes it sound really lazy.

There's hardly any difference between d/t in these word patterns in my accent :dunno:

Unless you're specifically trying to emphasize one or the other it can go either way.

I think I'd agree with you, because if I say "broodle" whilst thinking "brutal", it sounds American to my mind.

I'd say it's closer to a flap or (for some) a glottal stop than a full d. For some accents it is a proper t.

"bɹu.tl", "bɹu.dl", "bruʔ.l" or "bɹu.ɾl

For me it's the last one
