I've come up with a new silly word for lazer sword.

New question: If I'm suddenly getting a bunch of "This site can't be reached" messages (regardless of browser), is there some simple setting that's likely the culprit?

Also, certain images people post on this site not showing up.

Yeah, that hasn't helped. I can take it to the IT guy at work, but the peeps here are smart about computers so I thought I'd ask.

Is it definitely plugged in?

Is there some place on the screen that I can look to see if the computer has power?

Some images on CFC have not been loading for me either. What system are you using?

*crosses fingers and hopes that it is not Windows Vista*

Windows 10 Enterprise.

Then we are not going to die, at least.

CFC went on a no-load strike for me for part of the day. It happens often enough, and without affecting any other website, that I've stopped thinking that my end has anything to do with it.

Yeah, but this is tons of other sites than CFC. I only added mention of the image thing in case that helped someone diagnose.

New question: how come you missed my awesome references to The IT Crowd?

I do not generally get upset about american english, I can even live with their tendency to change most s's in the middle of words to z's for no good reason. But this I cannot let go, laser in an acronym, Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. There is NO way that the s can be a z, what does that stand for?

We do not spell laser with a z in the US.

This reminds me of a production of "The Sound of Music" I worked on 35 years ago. One of the actors playing a Nazi substituted "z" for "s" and "th" in some of his dialogue. I still remember how one set of lines came out:

"Zing ze zongs you are going to zing at ze festival. Zing!"

(as he didn't believe the von Trapps were really going to perform at the music festival and was trying to catch them out for lying)

When I google "emergency definition" the 2nd definition is "2.HISTORICAL•IRISH the Second World War". Does this mean that in Ireland people sometimes refer to the 2nd world war as "the emergency"?
