Yup. I always put the lid down to flush and then check afterwards. It only makes sense to do so.
 
I never had that problem because I planned ahead. Whether I would have had that problem without planning ahead we will never know.

Well then, we must endeavor to find out.

It is effectively a seat back, therefor it only needs to be upright if you are landing or taking off.

In fact, it's always up to such an extent I actually had to read half the thread before realizing it's about the lid and not the seat. My mind didn't really register the "lid" concept until then. I guess it was categorized in some part of my brain as "the thing you put down only when you need to walk on it", which happens about as rarely as the "entirely forgot about it" part indicates.
 
I close it to flush after I crap. Otherwise lid should be up. Are people really offended to see toilet water? :confused:

Who wants to spend hours a year opening and closing a lid?
