Turkey v Kurds

Read an interesting article.

Basically it's been noted that Russia stands by it's allies. It's a crappy Ally by any standards but better than the alternatives.

US cut and run in Egypt 2011, Arab spring generally a failure and now they want to cut and run on the Kurds.

This was BBC or Washington Post.

How many times have the Kurds been hung out to dry?

The kurds have to acquire their own nation, which should be in East Turkey given that is where most of them live, upwards of 10-12 million people.
That said, they would have fared better if they hadn't been duped during the Greek-Turkish war (1919-23), by the turks, who of course first used them as allies and then betrayed and slaughtered them.
The informal/formal leader of PKK (Abdulah Ocalan), the organization for an independent Kurdistan, has been rotting, heavily medicated in a turkish prison for over 20 years now. From time to time the turks bring him out in a zombie state, to say stuff against an independent Kurdistan

Yeah I'm not a fan of Neo Ottonanism or Turkeys track record on human rights. Kicking them out if NATO and not letting them into the EU can be their reward IMHO.

Let other countries do whatever internally doesn't mean you have to play nice with them though if they're particularly bad.

Americans apparently leave hastily, abandon equipment:

Left strange message on a whiteboard (the word on top means "f***got" in Russian)

Kurds seem to welcome their new overlords allies

Leaving equipment behind means the military industrial complex can sell new stuff to the Pentagon courtesy of the average Joe's tax dollars. Woot woot...../s

Something else they have left lying around:
The rapid pace of withdrawal and the tumultuous decline of relations between the two countries has left administration officials scrambling to find a plan for the nuclear weapons stored under American control at the shared Incirlik Air Base in south east Turkey, reports said.
Officials from the State Department and Energy Department, which manages Washington's nuclear arsenal, met at the weekend to consider how they might retrieve an estimated fifty tactical nuclear weapons held at the site, according to The New York Times.

Tfw The Sum of All Fears is now a documentary

Well, there are tactical nukes at airbase in Turkey, but USA is not leaving it yet. But when US sanctions start, Turkey may kick Americans off the base, so yes it's better to prepare for that scenario.

Thank's to Turkey for reconciling Kurds with Syria/Russia and taking all backlash on themselves...

It's heart-warming to see Russia and the USA becoming friends for Thanksgiving.
Who's carving?

How long until Turkey totally Gobbles up northern Syria and kicks out all the kurds once and for all?(i.e. declares the entire Kurdish ethnicity to be a terrorist group, not just the PPK and the YPG?)

It doesn't seem everything goes as expected by Turkey. They captured only several towns and villages, the Kurds resist. A quick Russia-mediated agreement with Assad was probably not foreseen by Turkey and now Kurds let Russia pass freely and snatch Kurdish towns right from under their nose. Already happened in Manbij and next will likely be Kobani. I'm pretty sure this wasn't planned by Erdogan, as Kobani is right on Turkish border. There was some agreement between Russia and Turkey before they started the operation, but I doubt they agreed that Assad gets the territory and Turkey gets all the international outrage and sanctions.

There are also reports that Russian planes begun to cover Kurds and prevent Turkish air raids. Reports in Twitter, so may be just rumors.

Russia becoming buddy with both Assad and Kurds and snatching all sympathy from the US.
Master stroke by Trump !

US still has to declare sanctions against Turkey and we will support Erdogan for all his troubles. Morally.

firstly, im from turkey, im opposition, i dont like erdogan government,

kurdish people are not represented by ''PKK or YPG or YPG or SDF'',
''PKK or YPG or YPG or SDF'' is leninist/marksist separatist group which have been found on 80's. now you call them 'kurds' please dont do that, you can reach right information by only single google search. (please check EU gov and US gov sites for rock solid sources about PKK)
PKK changed name at 2003 to YPG, then they became US mercenary(paid soldiers) SDF-syrian democratic forces,
Kurdish Milita PKK is a recognized terror organization by US,EU, Russia and so on..

YPG and SDF are not recognized as terrorist organizations.
PKK recognized in US and EU, not in Russia.

Trump’s latest letter to Erdoğan is so stupid, I keep thinking something must have been hacked and it’s a fake.

I arrived back in Kurdistan a couple days ago but in Iraq and I’ve barely gone anywhere, I don’t know anything you can’t find out from twitter.

Am anti Erdogan, have been since before he came to power, knew he was for an Islamic state.

Now I need to know what government the Kurds favor?
