Twitch is the future of humanity :)

It's not a scam because she's not making any claims about the money being used to get closer to her.. they're just donations, I believe that's advertised quite clearly (but I could be mistaken)

I don't understand the opposition to such creative ways to make a living. It's working for her, so who cares? She doesn't appear to be doing anything illegal or immoral.

Not illegal, but arguably immoral. Particularly so if the egirl couldn't care less about her simps, but pretends to so as to make a living.

The "future of humanity" is "the world's oldest profession"?

Sounds about right.

I think prostitutes are at least hard-working, and afaik most do that for very little time and only for the money (so as to get away later and live decently).
E-girls usually are not posting nudity, and obviously are not hard-working.

Getting big and staying big in a highly competitive environment is not hard-working? There's broadcasting, and research, and posting and editing(or managing editing) youtube videos, staying on top of algorithm, then there is the twitter and the photo sharing. The full market approach required to be a big live streaming celebrity is almost 24/7. You don't have to respect the work(I don't particularly), but it's there. Even guys like the Penny-Arcade comic strip authors mention that it's exhausting to have an entire community of no-lifers wanting jammed up your buttcrack all day every day.

If this way of making money is immoral then all advertising is immoral and a lot of other jobs as well.

How do you know what she cares and what she doesn't care about? She offers a service and people pay for it. Sounds moral to me.

Heheh. You should give them at least some guff.

I used to watch streams more, but it got really old and I started staying home with the kid, and I don't really want him watching much of any of it. So I've been getting episodes of Sean the Sheep and Mister Rogers, mostly. Lots of different qualities to media. Favorite BS Facefriend post my wife has shown me in years was somebody claiming(true conversation or not) that "Mr. Rogers would be wearing a mask," and the (ostensible) reply was, "No, he'd have an episode where somebody showed him how to wear a mask properly, explain why to wear a mask properly, and then he'd travel somewhere or watch somebody on Picture Picture that would show him how masks are made in a factory and sewn at home."

He'll get to finding people cosplaying bikini cows(still hilarious) soon enough.

It sounds like some people are just jealous that a girl is doing things they can't. i.e. use their good looks to make some extra money

I do find it interesting. In some classic novels (eg The Golem) you see girls in similar roles, with analogous simps.
Certainly good for them, all I am saying is that it is brutal if one is on the other end, paying money and going bankrupt for an impossible dream.

How do you know people are going bankrupt as a result of this? Seems like you could say the exact same thing about somebody spending money to go watch a movie, or going to a casino, or paying for a mobile game, or going to a soccer game or spending money at the bar or...

I see you judging this person, but it doesn't seem fair to judge her like this. If she was lying to her customers about what they will get when they pay, then yeah, I would be with you.. but.. those donating money know that it's just a donation. It's voluntary.

I am not really judging, in that I am not against the e-girls. I just feel sad for those who did ruin their own life by throwing money at the e-girls. And afaik there are documented cases of people getting bankrupt for this - it's an addiction!

Anyway, I just wanted to share some Twitch thoughts.

But that happens to people who gamble, who spend all their money on stupid mobile game boosts, people get addicted to ordering out, and to all sorts of things. So why single her out here?

Invadervie in no way is the worst. I am not singling her out.
Game boosts or even gambling are making money for more than one person, one may not like it, but it is creating jobs for others - this is just Twich (taking half :) ) and the streamer.

I still don't understand any of the issues you have with this. Just because it's a new and different way for people to make money? Economic realities change, and as new possibilities become available for generating an income, some people will end up in that niche. I say all the power to them for figuring out an income that doesn't include a boss.

You stream? Does it mean you sell your own bath water to your dear viewer for 20 pound also?

waow! I wanna be just like you!

In my case I can even do it without creating a health hazard! Probably.

Some YouTubers I follow bring over their content from Twitch, and they are getting donations either from their message or directly from their gameplay. Some people will drop a few bucks just to get the computer voice to say something to troll the streamer. Others donate just because they like the content.

Even with twitch e-girls, there must be some perceived value in most of the people making donations. I don't doubt there are some actual crazy people who think it makes them closer, but I'd guess most people who do this don't fit that picture and can understand the terms they read. Not my cup of tea, similar to how I've never paid to watch car racing or to attend a classical music concert. But other people do value these things, and I'm in no place to tell them their preference for entertainment is wrong in these contexts.

Ok, I won't go against white knights (I am joking!)

It would seem like the real power play is to get THEM to go for YOU. Get yourself a voice changer and an anime girl avatar rather than green screen of yourself! If your acting is up to snuff maybe you can do even better!

Gambling addiction is a pox, and mobile game boosts that target children, sort of like Joe Camel - should have been illegal ages ago like payday loan places and annualized interest rates over 20% used to be. No good justification for society allowing them to function, much less protect their rights to make profit in such a way.

Maybe I am Pokimane. You don't get to see the scale, and the suit works ok.
I just feel disgusted for doing this to simps, so try to indirectly redeem myself by posting somewhat against Twitch in such threads.

Better yet get your Italian friend with that sexy voice to say seductive things while you pose for the camera

I am confused... Were you talking to me? If so, you mean the one in Athens? (which I only saw in a bus three times and never again) :D
I also have a painter friend there who is half-italian, but she isn't the Twitch type...

Ah, so your arguments are really just to suppress competition. Fair enough.

Yeah, the guy who voiced your game! His voice is just great.

You call those people who pay "simps". How come?

I voiced my game :p :)

"Simps" is just the common name used atm. It is derogatory (an abbreviation of "simpleton").
I don't think it is a good name, not just due to the meaning but because it doesn't signify what is (arguably) going on.

I'm confused because everybody was talking about some Italian guy who voiced your game. If that's your voice then dude, you could be making money somehow with it I'm sure.

I think your arguments would land better if they didn't include insults. But I get that, when talking about people who pay $1000s to buy mobile game nonsense are commonly known as "whales". But the thing is, the vast majority of people who play these games don't do that.. so it's not fair to call them all whales.

In this case I bet there are a handful of users who give these streamers lots of money.. Call them what you want, but I bet the majority of viewers don't do that.
