U.S. Presidential Election 2024 Part II: 象対ロバ

I mean, I don't follow the politics of foreign countries that closely, but I was under the impression that his performance at latest debate & other recent gaffes was an entirely new level in terms of "this guy is not all right up there"
I'd say he looked old and tired, like old tired people do. Probably he has bad days, and better days, like elderly can. Haven't actually seen anything indicating he's mentally impaired overall beyond age – but then so does Trump.

The difference really is that Biden looks old and frail, while Trump might look and sound inane half the time, he does come across as robust still. If Biden was supposed to overcome that frailty he would have to come up with some actual Jedi stuff in the form of comebacks and brain-waves, to really dazzle everyone.

Isn't this basically because we're used to him being so crazy though? I mean, whenever I hear him talk, it's just a random wordsalad. And it's been like that for years.

Yep, that's the most inane part of it. It has been normalised.

Which is why everyone lost their nuts over Biden being lost in the debate, and no one batted an eye when Trump lied his arse off. Because ... that's our Trump. And that's the direction we're going.
It started on inaugeration day when Spicer talked about the largest crowd, and McEnany went: Yeah, well, he used alternative facts. There are no alternative facts, there is no mine and your reality.
This was Bannon's trial balloon to see if it floated. It rocketed. And it's still on trajectory.
And after all these years, those who didn't buy it, now just shrug, because it's been normalised.

Regards to the late great Hannibal Lector.

I'm wondering whether Trump will even agree to a debate with Harris (or whomever, but probably Harris). I wouldn't mind seeing her carve his [behind] up on live tv. Michelle Obama's idea about taking the high road was sweet, but that has to be over now. I am so sick of how timid the Democratic Party have been. Somewhat lost in President Biden's awful performance in the last debate was just how terrible Donald Trump was. Couldn't answer a question. Could barely form a complete sentence. Doesn't have two brain cells to rub together. Somebody needs to throw hands with this donkey and show the world what a rank amateur he is. Enough's enough.

I was just reading about Speaker Johnson's line about how replacing Biden on the ballot might not be legal in some states. So [hug] the whole Republican Party, obviously, but start with the weakest link, who also happens to be their chosen figurehead. I'm reminded of the confrontation between Daredevil and The Punisher in Netflix's Daredevil series: "You put 'em down, they get back up. I put 'em down, they stay down." At the time, I was on Daredevil's side, but I'm beginning to think Frank Castle was right. I guess the question is who in the Democratic Party right now can be The Punisher. (And before anybody decides to reveal themselves as also a total donkey, allow me to preserve your dignity: I mean that metaphorically. You're welcome.)

Trump says he wants to debate, doesn't like ABC. Harris may have to agree to debate on Fox if Trump is prepared to use the venue as an out.

Trump also appears to be attempting to paint Harris as far left. It'll be culture war from this point forward.

They do that with everyone. As a result of an odd speech impediment from which he suffers, Sean Hannity physically cannot say the word "Democrat" if he doesn't first say "America-hating radical left extremist socialist"

Interested to see if Harris holds the oldsters. More of whom(something like 47%) voted Biden than you'd think, given Boomer hate.

I wonder what the Gen X numbers are. I feel like Gen X are low key traditionalists, at heart. I feel like they quietly probably broke slightly for Trump but I've not looked it up.

edit: Gen X went to Biden by 3 points, Millennials by 19. Trump was down 6 with them against Clinton, gain of 3 points. I have a feeling he gains again, but it should be outweighed nationwide by more reliable millennial voting habits.

Painting the main stream media is left biased has been a strategy since the 80s. Discredit the messenger to discredit the message. Same thing with the 'far left' crap. Biden spent 50 years as center right. But he's 'far left', as a political label. Because that's just staying on message.

Off Topic but are you inferring that Ngannou is Trump and Kamala is Joshua, according to the meme. That gif makes me sad Ngannou got smoked.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear: “Listen, JD Vance is a phony. He’s fake. I mean, he first says that Donald Trump is like Hitler, and now he’s acting like he’s Lincoln, I mean, the problem with JD Vance is he has no conviction, but I guess his running mate has 34”

Elon Musk denies report he will donate $45m a month to Trump Super Pac

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has denied reports that emerged last week that he was planning to donate $45m a month to a Super Pac focused on getting Trump elected. On Tuesday, Musk appeared on Jordan Peterson’s show, where he said the claim was “simply not true”. “I am not donating $45m a month to Trump,” he said.

“Now what I have done is that I have created a Pac or Super Pac or whatever you want to call it,” he said. It is called the America Pac.”

I guess that means Musk has his own personal PAC now.

It will advertise for whatever political cause he supports at the start of the day?

He should just run for President if he wants to control everything.

...Er, buy a new Constitutional Amendment too.

Speaking of dialogue, the J.D. Vance movie came out in 2020.

Hillbilly Elegy was directed by Ron Howard and starred Glenn Close and Amy Adams.

Currently streaming on Netflix.

31 years old was a bit young to write a memoir, but his Yale law professor urged him to do it 6 years earlier.

He must have gone through some stuff.
I saw it back when it came out. I thought it was really good.
