Unit requests thread

Could someone make an unit that is the Mediterranean knight on foot? Shield/No shield (no shield preferred) is fine, thanks.

Well, for anyone who wants to do tanks, there are still holes (especially with Smitty gone, he can't claim "he's working on them").

There's no Italian/Roman heavy tank...
Answer: CA P26/40

There's no Japanese heavy tank...
Answer: Type 3 Chi-Nu

There's no Hungarian tanks...
Answer: Turan I and/or Turan II

There's no Swedish/Viking tanks...
Answer: Strv M38 / M40 / M42

I'm more then willing to offer better pictures/more info on any of the above vehicles for anyone who takes-up the gauntlet.

I second these request, I could especially use the Hungarian ones for my Hungarian civ mod.

well... the japanese never really invested in Heavy Tanks. but they produced the Type 97 Te-Ke which i believe would be better for them... but then again, im not the most trusted official on Japanese Warfare

Except the fact that...

A) We already have the Type 97 Chi-Ha available (the bigger one... who cares about the Te-Ke... and for proof, check my mod... I have a beautiful Type-97 in it)...

and...

B) The Japanese did really invest in heavy tanks and the Type 3 Chi-Ni was a very real tank the Japanese built.

Here's a REAL one for those that don't believe the Japs built any of them:

In fact the Type 3 was allocated to the Japanese home islands to defend against an Allied Invasion that never materialised and therefore, never saw combat. There are lists existent in Japan that show that at least 6 tank regiments were equipped with Chi-Nu tanks on Kyushu and Honshu and over 200 were built.

So how's that for "The Japanese didn't invest in any".

And they had a few other heavier tanks that did at least make it to prototype stage. There is a list at wikipedia and you can dredge up a bit more info if you search around. In a what game like Civ4 that is all about "what if" such vehicles would seem appropriate. I've included many of them in a personal mod I've built based on RtW. Maybe one day if I ever get my thumb out I'll do some models for it too.

Anyhoo, lets not forget that we do not yet have a PzKpfw III.

1. i didn't know it was built, apologies.
2. while that may be the case, i never heard of it. so again, i apologize.
3. the many tiny islands probably wouldn't do well for these machines. but still, they were, and i apologize.

see, by posting the slightly arrogant things that i post, i learn more.

Yeah... while we are swimming in German tanks (Pz-II, Pz-38t, Pz-IVE, Pz-IVH, Pz-V Panther, Pz-VI Tiger, Pz-VIB King Tiger & StuG IIIb), it's odd we don't have one of the backbone tanks... the Pz-III (of any model).

The Japs built the Type-3 primarily for home island defense... and there's plenty of room for big tank combat on the main islands of Japan. The fact that the Americans never proceeded with Operation Downfall (the invasion of Japan) didn't prevent the Japs from preparing for what seemed a sure invasion.

It's okay though... I'm known to give slightly arrogant responses from time to time! :mischief:
