I voted for Ashanti, Berbers and Carthage. Morocco can work instead of Berbers and I would also be really happy with Mali as well :)

What I'm trying to say is: more African Civs, plz :)

In what way? I agree with Greywulf that the concept of Sitting Bull was good although the execution was ...lacking. SB had really powerful archers and was a protective leader. That means his defense was pretty good and I think well executed Defensive Civs are great in concept. In VI they tried to do this with Georgia and I think the general consensus is that Georgia is mediocre at best ( terrible at worst).

I think they went with generic 'Native American' mostly out of political correctness. I'd love to see more NA specific Civs and they played around with that in V.
I'm not talking about the balance of the civ. I'm talking about it having components from completely different tribes. The leader, unit, and building didn't match up

Overall I'd love to see the Ottoman Empire, Byzantine Empire, and Austria ( Austria-Hungary). Though the area around Greece is already crowded ( 2 Greek Civs and Macedon) Constantinople/Istanbul would add two more Civs to the same area. The three empires I mentioned have had a huge impact on history and I don't see how they can be omitted. All 3 were in Civ 5 and Byzantium has a pedigree back to Civ III.

In Asia/Middle East I'd love to see a Jewish themed civ either Israel or Khazaria. I imagine Firaxis avoids it because of political backlash.

For Africa I'd like to see the return of Mali ( Mansa Musa). Also the return of Songhai would be cool too. And then maybe a Civ6 version of Carthage,Morocco, and South Africa..

For North and South America the native Civs in Civ5 and Civ4 were good. I'd like to see a return of Sitting Bull. Add in there Inca, Maya, Shoshone, Iroquois, and Canada.

You realize there are already polls for Asia, Middle-east and Europe, which are far better suited to comment on civs in world's parts rather than on the african one.

Also, the North American will eventually come, so please focus on West and northern Africa, a place where 5 choices would still be too limited.

Liufang , thanks for the info. I also posted some West/North African Civs I'd like to see. As I said before I'd like to see Songhai, Mali (Mansa from IV was great), Carthage , and Morocco. Perhaps Nigeria too.

Anyway, Carthage is pretty much a must have at this point, and the medieval era needs some representation, so I went with Morocco.
After that, it's a toss-up for me on who should represent the bulge of Africa, so i just went with Ashanti.

Voted for Mali because I want to see Mansa Musa being a showoff by throwing gold at the camera
Voted for Benin because they look like a fun new choice.
Voted for Kanem-Bornu because I'd like to see a civ really thrive in the Sahara.

Shout-outs to Carthage and Morocco for being other choices that really need to return (and almost obviously will) and to the Ashanti, Berbers, and Dahomey for interesting new civs I'd love to see.

I'm not as enthusiastic about Mansa Musa as some here, but I admit that would be almost as entertaining as Elizabeth throwing her shoe at the camera.

Mansa Musa of Mali is a must if "big personalities" are what we go for. I expect an interesting faith-gold-science synergy, with a strong military unique unit as well and an agenda liking players who make gold and/or faith purchases and/or have high faith and gold income (the second is arguably more boring as an agenda idea).

Queen Elizabeth I had a fiery temper and was known for throwing her shoes at courtiers when angry.
But not at foreign leaders, surely!

Just wondering what would be a good agenda for Hannibal Barca if he gets chosen as the Carthaginian leader.

Hates Rome!
But seriously likes Civilizations that do not control a lot of territory and have small armies. So in the end don't be like Rome.

Yeah, that's how wars get started. Maybe just at Philip. :mischief:

Appropriate in that it makes him natural enemies with Rome, but it feels about as hamfisted and historically inappropriate as making Cyrus a backstabber. I'd go with the mirror version of Harald's agenda: he dislikes civilizations that have a larger navy than he has. It's thematic, because control of Mare Nostrum is what Rome and Carthage were fighting over.

Honestly that does sound a lot better and would maybe make AI Carthage try to build up a good navy.

Well, now I know who I'd prefer as the alt leader for England!

Definitely agreed, I'm sure some of the other mansas could be acceptable choices but it would be like replacing gold with silver. I'd be really surprised if the guy who devastated economies with his generosity doesn't get in this game!

Yep! She's such a fantastic big personality who has been portrayed so insultingly blandly in the prior games that I'm deeply saddened she was left out of the Civ game where she could truly shine. :(

I'm more saddened by Firaxis' decision to portray Cyrus the Great as an untrustworthy backstabber and Pedro II as Great People hogging jerk. They were both great and respected rulers, yet It's hard to like them in my games.

I voted for Benin, Carthage and Mali.

I wouldn't mind Morocco returning, but I would like at least one Civ representing coastal West Africa.

For me it's :

Carthage
The Berbers
Mali

I'm sorry but i'm not a big fan of islamized countries, just like I don't like colonized countries such as Australia, I'd rather have the berbers in thei pre-islamic era.
