UPCOMING MOD! Julius Caesar's Campaign in Gaul

I'm going to go and third the druid's santuary.

@MaissiaArsouye - I went to the gallic war mod you were working on in december, and I tried the link for your map. It doesn't work, however, so I'd appreactaite it if you could post it here again.
I can't wait for the next edition of the map.

Thanks.
I'm going to download it right away.

EDIT: I also took a number for Aaglo's deli line. Anyone who wants to take a number for this mod can do so with this link : Aaglo's lottery

Good work MaisseArsouye!
I've already downloaded it. The only objection is the british tribes...I was to have different ones, but maybe they're the same thing, just with different names.

@Traianus - I need some city names for the parisii, the cadurci, the sequani, and the euborones. I just need one for each tribe. I already have enough for the pictones, but more would never hurt.

Edit: Maybe I should just post my map as is, since Mas. has his up. If you guys want it early, just tell me.

Vescontio(besancon) for the Sequani, i'm pretty sure. The Cadurci come from an area now known as Cahors(Perhaps Quercy and tarn too). Was Lutetia not Parisii?
anyway i'll do a bit of searching and let you know what I come up with.
I was thinking of making a unit request for that channell storm idea I had. Do you think you might use it?

Right! after much searching I've found the Cadurci capital. It was called Divona or Divona Cadurcorum under the Romans... I think. Anyway, it stood where modern day Cahors is.

The Parisii capital was indeed Lutetia Parisiorum or Lucotecia.

I haven't managed to find anything else for the Sequani but I have a feeling that I might have some more info at home. I'll let you know tomorrow.

The Eburones Controlled Atuatuca which (it is thought by many) they took previously from the Atuatuci. Allthough not certain, Atuatuca was somewhere around Tongres.

@MaisseArsouye (what a name, by the way!)
I can't view it here but i'll take a look later. Hadn't Saturn already looked at this when he asked me for the Sequani, Parisii, etc.? Not to worry.

I want to sart thinking about the tech tree and i have lots of ideas and civ icons to start with. Anybody else got thoughts on this? Feel free to think out loud.
I was thinking of using Pink's Ancient era timer method(assuming he won't mind) to keep everything happening when it should.
Then I was going to arrange the techs into groups under each book of the commentaries. Therefore you would have to research 'Book one' first which would open up a bunch of techs. you would then have to get as many as you can until circumstances force you to research 'Book two'
Techs i have so far include;
Book One - Friend of Rome, Gallic Studies, Gallic Auxilia, The Ballista
Book two - Belgic Studies, Veteran Seafaring, Germanic Auxilia
Book three - Germanic Studies, Venetic Seafaring, Urban Pacification,

@Saturn. Many aspects of what have done so far are going to rely on various techs, I'm sure. Is there anything I should bear in mind Before I get stuck in?

I think that Saturn6 should use the tidal wave idea...it sounds pretty good to me. I also like that idea about using the books for techs.

@Saturn6 I think that you should complete the map and then post it. Mind as well have it the best it can be.
@Traianus I was thinking that that maybe the techs should be somewhat RPG oriented, such as having the techs(for julius caesar) be like inspire, and that would allow for a better unit, because inspired trooops are techinically better. I still like your idea for the techs however. One question though -- what would be Germanic and Gallic Studies? Can you explain that?

He certainly wanted cities to make a complete list, not the capital. Because in my file those tribes allready have a capital. Your search is correct, you just didn't find Uxellodunum for the Cadurci ;)

I also have leader names for some of tribes.

@John_Deere. Caesar spent a chapter here and there describing the aspects of Gallic, Belgic and Germanic civs. I felt it would be good to try to do the same. I haven't given it a lot of further thought but it might lead to better buildings or better auxiliary units. (The old adage of it being easier to defeat an enemy if you understand the enemy!)
Thanks for your thoughts. If you have any more ideas on RPG techs I will certainly try to impliment them.

@MaisseArsouye. In the version of the gallic wars I was working on I had put the Cadurci in under the Arverni. That's why I missed Uxellodunum. Your excel file was pretty cool so i look forward to looking at the biq. The leader names were good also. I have many more at home for MGLs and SGLs. You too? we should get them to Saturn and maybe save him some time.

Gonna make the unit request for the channel storm now. Even if it's not used it would be a useful unit to someone, I'm sure.

I am definetely in favor of the tidal wave. I will make sure that it is implemented in the game. I also am in favor of your ideas Traianus. Take a look at the improvements list on the prevoius page, and make sure that your tech tree has the ability to incorporate those in. If you have a qualm about any of them, or want to make changes/improvements feel free to post them here for discussion.

@MaisseArsouye - Your list with the trbe chieftains is completely blank. There are no leaders there. It might be because of different excel versions. However, the latin and tribe names are helpful.

Map edition III will be the last set of major changes to the map, resources, ect, ect. From now on it is the acually editor that we'll be dealing with.

Hi all. Here's the biq of my 'caesar in gaul' mod i was working on. I gave it up as Saturn seemed to be far more advanced with his. It might be useful for city/leader/MGL/SGL names. Bear in mind that I was trying to keep the mod fast-running so I had only 15ish tribes therefore there will be some inaccuracies such as Uxellodenum being part of Pictone territory
P.S. I can't seem to open the new biq. Actually, I never manged to open the last one either. I keep getting a 'wrong file extension' error. I've tried with winzip and rar. Grrrr! I'm bustin to have a look at it!

Now that the map is finished, what should we do now? i downloaded the map traianus, and it worked fine. I could try uploading it and see if it worked. Saturn6 added a ton of stuff, and it has a lot more tribes.

So do you want me to upload for you?

Sorry I haven't been around guys. I lost my password and so I couldn't sign on for a spell...

Anyways, I've started work on the civilopedia, and I have determined the different tech eras: Conquest of Gaul, Pacifism of Gaul, Rebellion, and Late Republic.

I had a look at the map. I'm sorry, but it's completely wrong ! Rivers, hills, montains, some city locations,...

You should work on RedAlert's Roman Gaul. It's a the best map of France ever ! ;)
