What alliance? I've heard some talk about it, but the whole idea makes no sense. I have never seen any actual evidence to support it.

I really hope this is the truth...

So much for being a strict constitutionalist.

On this one particular issue, I go against ideology to prevent murder. That said, its not going to happen...

If I were President, I'd end Roe VS Wade by executive order, and allow/advise the states to ban abortion in any way they please. I would not, however, use the FBI when Federal Law and Constitutional Law don't allow it.

I find that surprising considering that I consider Johnson to be a generally pro-life guy. He may not be as absolutist about it, but I think he's on your side of the fence.
I'm pretty sure he described himself as pro-choice.

For someone who claims to know how the Constitution works, you certainly seem to have some unusual ideas as to what the presidency can do. You are aware the executive cannot unilaterally overturn Supreme Court decisions, right?

So you completely ignore the Constitution just anytime you want, even without the slightest justification?

In other news, former Louisiana Gov Buddy Romer (and former GOP nomination seeker) is also likely to appear on some ballots as a 3rd party (Reform Party). Roemer was a onetime quite popular and successful Gov of Louisiana...and then he went crazy and managed to lose to David Duke. Lol.

Now this is why Citizens United is so important! You cant hope to compete against the 2 parties without wealthy backers willing to buy ads. But this is somewhat problematic, wealthy backers have more to lose if they piss off the people making the rules. And even if the superpacs are "anonymous, the 2 parties will know or find out who is supporting 3rd party challenges and use the govt to screw them over.

Our system is corrupt :( Democrats and Republicans have corrupted the system with their legalized extortion and bribery. Look at how the left and right media attacks the $$$ behind their opponents, imagine having both parties  at you and your business empire. But sometimes there's a wealthy person who doesn't care if the politicians try to screw them, they throw their $$$ around based on other considerations.

I like Citizens United, it gives people outside of the corruption a way to challenge it... Free speech! One of the most  arguments used by the 2 parties against Perot (and other mega$$$ candidates) is they're trying to buy the election - as opposed to all the special interests throwing $$$ at them to continue ripping off taxpayers.

Are you aware that what Andrew Jackson did was utterly unconstitutional?

The Supreme Court legislating abortion from the bench was illegal in the first place... Not that what Jackson did was right. It is useful as precedent though:p

(Nah, not really, to use Andrew Jackson's precedent that way would not be a good idea, because then just anyone could do it. However, to not enforce SCOTUS' ruling would not be hard to accomplish...

Precedents are formed constantly and then they are used constantly. If you knew anything about English common law, from which the legal systems of most of the Anglophone world descend, you would know this and would then avoid making facetious posts in an attempt to be clever.

Sure. There are a few. But unless they're willing to donate at least 10s of millions, then you still need large numbers of them feeling the same. Romney has 1000s of really big money supporters donating to his cause.
I wouldn't expect Johnson to come up with anywhere near the money Romney has. However, if he can raise just enough to buy some airtime, it might be enough to get his name out there and establish him as the third-choice candidate.

I'm really glad you put the smiley, because I almost believed this wasn't tongue-in-cheek.

Hey everybody, what is the topic about?

Is it a) Dommy talks about abortion AGAIN
or b) Projected win % of US 3rd parties?

Wait, David Duke? As in, Stormfronty, white supremacisty, openly blatantly racisty David Duke? In a state that's 32% black?

Yes, David Duke got 2nd place and knocked Roemer out of a runoff election, back in 1992 I think? Duke was actually a force to be reckoned with in Louisiana Politics, until he got sent off to jail.
