First speech of Ruben Theodoor Van Daalen of Ghorootste Natie party, given in Nieuw Amsterdam

Thank you for gathering here. You are all so proud and cherished, citizens of Amerika.

I want you to remember before this coming elections, that we are Amerikans, we are proud, we are strong, and we will never fall behind, never surrender to weakness. Yes our nation may have lost a war. Poor leadership and perhaps red-minded backstabbers... But we shall never lose our strength and pride in being the greatest nation of all.


My name is Ruben Theodoor Van Dalen, the head of the Ghorootste Natie party, and I am here to tell you, why we are the only sensible vote. You may have heard of me before, you may have heard of the different contestants of my party in the different states, like Frits Jurriaan Rietveld of Nieuw-Amsterdam and Gerrit Reijnder, the hero of the war from Michigan. Yes many of us are heroes of the war... people who saved countless lives, like Gerrit did in Michigan.


As military men we know where the strength of a nation lies. We know what protects the people at day and at night, never sleeping, never weak. It is our military.

Foordt’s government, the syndicalist and corporatists, never understood where the power of a nation lies. They thought money... or red flags... would bring them the power, and they failed miserably. Of course they did! It is our military might that gives us strength! The men and women who serve in our army that demand the utmost respect! They stand vigil against the evils that wish to see us all enslaved or dead.


Yes... and such evils still grow... even after the war, now in the west a new evil grows.

The so called communist state of Louisiana... once a part of us... has fallen to the red threat. They are building their tanks and planes, preparing to attack us if our watch ever down. But our watch will never be down! For every tank they build we shall have five standing already! For every plane that threatens our skies we shall have ten to fight it! It is our army that makes us strong, and it is our army that protects us. It is our army that one day will reclaim our nation as whole again!

And that is where the Greatest Nation party stands, with our soldiers and with our army. We shall not fail, we shall never lose our vigil, for our men and women in uniforms are our walls, they are our hands in battle, and none of us shall ever forsake them! ... A vote for the Greatest Nation is a voice of support to our great men and women who protects us from the corporatist evils and the red threat that looms in the west.

Ladies and gentlemen, here we are. We've come a long way, we've been through harsh years of oppression and misery, of fear and war, of threats and shadows, of whistling bullets and crashing bombs, yet we made it: here we are.

Finally we have regained our right to stand free in the world. Let us never forget what we've been through. Let us never again suffer and long under a tyrant! Let us never again follow the blind promise of glory through arms! Let us remember that destruction engenders only more destruction. Let us always remember, let us keep in mind what brought us here! Let us remember how we sank and perished! Let us prevent that from ever happening again!

Some people come forth spitting onto Foordt only to hide that they follow his agenda. They don't want a united Amerika, they don't want prosperity for its people. These people, these blinded liars, they don't love this nation! They don't love! They hate! Sure they hate the Reds now, but they hate everything in their way. These people, these men, they would have us be alone! They'd cut us from our allies and throw us into a war we alone cannot and will not win!

These people, I say, these people want no good onto you, but to their broken, shattered pride! It is not you who they will serve, but their scornful, vengeful hearts! It is not the voice of the people they will hear, but the beating vein in their skulls!

Amerika, let us keep safe from these men! Let us rebuild ourselves and prosper! Let us never keep an eye on Louisiana, but let us never look at it with pride or greed! Let us know that only they must be the architects of their liberation. Only they can join us of their own will. For what are we if we should act upon the Reds as the Reds acted upon us? Let us be ready to act yet not act until the time to act has come.

Confound these brutes who'd drag you once more down to the mud! Forget these vile men whose bile only reveals their true colors! Ignore them who would bring war before we have recovered from it! Keep vigilant always and never let their pride guide your hand!
 
Before leaving to his next speech the Ghorootste Natie has released a new poster. Ruben Theodoor Van Daalen took a few pictures before a large version of the poster and gave a small speech.

The poster includes a large fat cat, well dressed with a top hat, devouring large amounts of bills and coins. Under the cat, holding it, many obviously of Amerikan heritage people hold it up. Some wear aprons, marking them as small business owners, others are mothers, helping their children hold up the cat. A few are mechanics others soldiers, etc… All are barely holding the giant fat cat. Under the image in big letters it says: That is what they want for you! Bellow it in smaller letters it says: Don’t let them! Vote Ghorootste Natie and then in smaller letters under everything: Ghorootste Natie, for the people.

*Smiling to the camera Van Daalen begins to talk* Yes, we wanted to tell people where do we stand, with whom do we stand. We stand with the families, with the soldiers, with the small business owners. We stand with the middle classes who are bowing under the weight of those who control our nation. Those who buy politicians. Yes we oppose communism, but that does not mean we can abandon the middle class to the jungle of Laissez Faire. That is a failed experiments and we cannot in good faith stand with that side. Sure compromise is important in democracy, but a good government will be there for the support of its people. Those who are doing very well economically can… and will, help the common folk, the middle class. That is what we are for. We are for the majority, we are for you.

*Asked about some competitor saying he will bring destruction to Amerika* Yes they will lie to get your vote. This is a democracy after all, the votes count, not the truth apparently. No we have no intention of going to war, our intention is to expand our forces and make sure we are always vigil and always ready for a future confrontation if one appears, or to step in with powerful forces if our caged brethren in Louisiana ask it of us. Don't let them confuse you. Amerika is as great as its people and its men and women in service. Bordering a red country, we do not have the luxury of ever letting go of our sight and our power. Any show of weakness will bring them onto us.

*What about the allies? They say you will alienate them* The allies are an important part of any future plans for our great country, but this must be discussed with the allies, and not assumed. We cannot count on others for our defense, we must ready ourselves above all, the allies would be a welcomed support. Thank you. That is all.

I must state it might be a cloudy day with rain; I apologise if I cause it.

Anyway: I am here to tell you of the good news, that there is a vision that will enable Dennenland to prosper, its populace to be enriched and its state pride to be stronger. My party, the Populistische Unie voor Nationaal-Democratisce Amerikaner Federalisten, desires nothing less then to ensure you have the right to work hard and reap the reward of effort, as well as to allow our industries access to outside markets, protect the rights of religion, ensure all who come to the great Amerikan nation earn their stay and to commit to the defence of us all through guardianship of our proud armed forces. My policy of letting the economy 'do' is simply math; the less interference into your economic lives by the government, the more room the economy has to grow. I especially believe that economics is a state right and that no state should bow down to fundamentalist red tape. If the interventionists wanted truly to aid our economy they would cut taxation so you would have more spending money to both benefit our markets and to invest in industrial development! You all have a chance to succeed and only the let do economic policies that PUNDAF follows will, at the conclusion, bring forth richness for all the populace, including those in Dennenland!

My fellow Christians: as Jesus fished believers for Heaven then so will your fishing industry catch us economic gains. Fishing is a economic opportunity for our self usage and for exportation. As Jesus was a carpenter so will our timber and shipbuilding industries need to be protected from interference while given the tax cuts and landing rights they require for contributing to society, for they will enhance the livelihoods of all citizens. Henceforth my economic policy is a Christian economic policy and those who try to take away that economic policy are no better than a atheist police state. Therefore the religious liberties of Dennenland are tied to the economic liberties of Dennenland, for it is a Christian work effort that has driven United Amerikaner Provinces to a new opportunity of industry. PUNDAF henceforth will be guardian of religion and economic freedoms, ensuring no fundamentalism nor secularism threatens both. Is it any wonder that the Marxists tend to include secularists and atheists? We need to be careful that they do not have the opportunity to dictate the livelihoods of the great and holy Christian majority.

So I present you policies of enchaining this state and this nation; of simply giving you the power of choice and to enshrine the art of non-interference, for you all ain't no babies and the state should not aspire to the role of nanny. The populace want the right to live as they see right and Christianity has ensured they do see what is right! Therefore PUNDAF is the path that protects one from both the extremes of fundamentalists who take any scripture difference to a assault on all fronts and secularists who are purposing a path that could only lead to state atheism! So I ask: you want a party who only pretends to be interested in you or will you want the P.U.N.D.A.F to be able to have their presidential candidate, me, in office? I swear on the Bible that I want to simply allow you all to live as adults; what is the harm in that?

Today, we have an interesting guest you're probably all familiar with, as his outright pacifistic stances have angered many of the members on the sizeable right-wing! Called by many pundits as 'the only hope for free Amerika', I introduce you to, Mr. Adriaan Breicht!

Adriaan Breicht: Thank you, Mr. Carsen, and indeed that you flatter me. Most likely an undeserved praise, and once I do the wrong thing, the very same pundits that are now going out of their way to boast me will most likely throw angry critiques at me.

Ben Carsen: Always the pessimist. Now, in response to your speeches, several political figures have responded. All from the right spectrum. So, it'll be best if we just start from the start...Ah, here we are, from VAV. You've heard their words. What do you think?

Adriaan Breicht: Well, aside from their usual paranoia of seeing Red soldiers and tanks everywhere, as well as national traitors everywhere, I must congratulate them for seeing the wisdom of patiently waiting until we're rebuilt. For the National Liberals that's quite the achievement, and I can't even start with the Nationalists. Of course, they're still in favour of building military over consumer goods, but what can we do about that? They want war.

Ben Carsen: Some have found your slogan "Peace today, victory tomorrow!" to be rather..unfortunate? One of our dear listeners even wrote a letter, calling it "defeatist nonsense, the yells of a coward", to quote several choice sentences. What's your opinion?

Adriaan Breicht: Yet another display of the partisan politics that are slowly consuming Amerika. Know well who you're choosing, Amerika. Some might think I'm a coward for not wishing to destroy Louisiana right out of the door. But believe me, I am no less angered from this fictional split that has been forced upon us; Amerika cannot exist without Louisiana, and vice-versa. The fact they're tangled into the webs of syndicalism and socialism just makes it even sadder, as Amerikaners like you and me are being forced to live in a state they cannot tolerate; by politicians they do not desire. If I could, today, declare war, I'd do it. But I can't. Because that would doom all the progress we've made through the centuries. You think that the Conferences of Taigh Iain Ghròt are bad? Once we lose this war, what will happen will make them pale in comparison. If anything, it's a quantum of hope that our recently enlarged realises that, as well.

Ben Carsen: Will you form a coalition with anyone?

Adriaan Breicht: I'm afraid that's impossible; all the rightists have created their own coalitions with a various degree of unity, leaving only socialists and separatists, which is an impossible sell in any case. The Pekwot Liberal Front will be on it's own.

Ben Carsen: Any final words?

Adriaan Breicht: Choose well, Amerika. What do you truly wish? A short-term victory or a long-term one which your descendants will remember and feel the benefits of it?

*Van Daalen stands before the crowd, Gerrit Reijnder standing a few steps behind him smiling to the crowd and encouraging them to cheer.*

“Thank you Doniadorp for such a warm welcome. I see many people here awaiting to hear what we have to say. I also want to first thank Gerrit Reijnder for joining me here on stage! A hero of the people.”

*Van Daalen goes to shake Reijnder’s hand and speak a few words away of the microphone. Reijnder smiles to the crowd, raises his hand and calls “For Amerika!” than going to sit on one of the chairs next to the stage. Van Daalen goes back to the microphone stage.*

“As you all know by now in New Amsterdam I have spoken about our military, and about the men and women who protect our country, and how much we owe them, and how much we need them. With the turn of Louisiana into a full blown dictatorship communistic regime we all know that we cannot stand aside and we cannot just wait for them. We must be always vigil and always prepared. As I said before, we promise to increase funding to the military and to support our men and women in service. But that is not what I came here for my good people.

Today we are here to discuss the infrastructure of our great nation. The war have wounded our lands and our people. You probably all have heard of the Nationale Volksalliantie coalition. What issues do they even agree on? Well we checked. They all agree on one thing, they agree that our working men and women, that our industries and manufacturing, they are all of no importance to them. They believe in something that may sound nice at first, but when you look into its actual meaning in action, you will know they mean to harm you.

What is this free trade they talk about? Does it mean Amerika could freely trade with other nations, does it mean our people would be able to send their goods abroad freely? Yes it does sound like it, doesn’t it? But no. What they have in store for you is to forget about our people, our factories, our goods and services and bring in foreign goods to compete with ours. Isn’t that good you might ask? Yes, if all you care about is enriching the rich and powerful even more. Without protecting our people in trade and manufacturing, how can we protect them in the field of battle? What they will do is open our markets to a barrage of foreign goods that will not only weaken our own industrial might but will make Amerika more dependent on the foreign nations. Are we so ready to be dependent on others for our manufacturing and defense?

Yes, you all heard correctly. I found it surprising too. The Vereenighde Amerikaener Volcksparty who at the beginning of this race spoke about rebuilding our infrastructure, our industries and our jobs, now allied with others to make sure that future does not come true! They won’t protect us. They won’t protect the middle class. They will allow foreigners to control our markets together with their coalition allies. You might ask how it could be. They spoke of state capitalism at first! Well I will tell you how it will be. They allied themselves with those who will forsake you to the fat cats, to a fate controlled by the large corporatists, they allied with the Windhonds who are most clear in their belief that the government is not here for the people, but only for protecting the rights of the rich for more private lands and private money. As I said at first, what possible middle ground could these two parties find? Well, I told you what common ground. Forsaking our industries and manufacturing – that is their common ground.

Do not fall to their promises of so called free trade. Be ever vigilant in protecting our own, in protecting our people and needs. We need protectionist in our trade to make sure our manufacturies do not shut down, to make sure our people have a job and food! They are not here for you. We are here for you.

Ghorootste Natie promises to protect the middle class, to protect the working man’s job. We not only promise to support our armies, but we promise to make certain that our economy, industry, manufacturing and exports will be great once again, the greatest! We stand upon a great land, blessed by god with a land full of resources ripe for the taking. Our competition want those resources dug up by the middle class to be sold by the fat cats to other countries with no gain to our own nation, to our own people. And they want to make us dependent on other nations for goods and supplies, to make sure their power is great, that their donors and rich and powerful next election cycle even more than now. We are the greatest nation on earth, and we have no reason to be dependent, or to leave our people to the hands of the corporatists.

We will fund the building of new roads and new rails to make it easier to cross our nation for the common folk. We have a beautiful nation, let us make sure anyone could see so. We will support the middle class and make sure new jobs, new technologies and more goods will be there when you go to the markets. We are the only ones who truly believe our nation can be great again!”

*The crowd cheers loudly as Van Daalen calls Reijnder back on stage. Reijnder takes the microphone then. The crowd continue to cheer for a few more minutes before Reijnder tries to calm them.*

“Yes. Our victory is at hand. The people will speak of how great our nation really is. Van Daalen brought me here today to speak of another subject. Citizenship. We as a nation have seen a great influx of people who wish to join our great nation. Even during the war movement of people into our nation did not cease. Even today from Louisiana, some who escape the communist regime come to our border. And we are here to discuss the way in which citizenship should be gained. We cannot let anyone who wants a share of our greatness to come, we must make sure every Amerikan is great.

And we all know what the way is. Service and faith. Here in the crowd we have a few new comers to the nation who came to hear our word. And our word is simple. To be an Amerikan you must serve the Amerikan people. Citizenship through military service is the way. Faith in god is the way. To be an Amerikan you must have god, and you must support our nation. Yes we have many denominators in our country, it matters little, we accept each other, understand each other, because in the end we all pray to the same god for the greatness of Amerika, and we all served our great nation in the war. I know I do. I know I did. Every day I pray that god will bless this nation’s future, that we will make the right decisions.

So let us make it clear in our code of laws. To be a citizen of our great nation, one must be great. To prove ones greatness one must have faith and one must serve in our defense, to prove himself on the front. We are threatened by the communists, and so our great nation needs great protectors against communism. Citizenship through military service and faith. That is what Ghorootste Natie believes, that is what I believe, and that is what we all believe.

Reijnder invites Van Daalen on stage again* Thank you for letting me speak here tonight my good friend. “It was my pleasure and your right” Van Daalen responds loudly. “We need more heroes like you to speak, so everyone will know the heroes are on their side.” Van Daalen finishes. Reijnder smiles towards him and the people when Van Daalen takes the microphone. “Ghorootste Natie for our men and women in service, for our men and women at work, for our faith!” The crowd cheers loudly as the two man go off stage to talk with the people in the crowd.*
 
Ben Carsen: Hello, Amerika! The time is 7:30 PM, and you're listening to Radio Amerika. Good evening to you all. We continue with our interviews with the different candidates. Today we have Ruben Theodoor Van Daalen, head of the Ghorootste Natie. Called a hero as well as a warmonger. Some see him as a new hope while others as a threat to the existence of our state. It is hard for us to even pin you in the left-right spectrum.

Van Daalen: Yes, I had hoped it would be hard to pin us down.

Ben Carsen: How so?

Van Daalen: Reality is never a side of politics, we look at the state and the people, and see what is most right for them. A strong military may seem right winged, a supportive economic structure may seem left winged. I tend to see myself as a centrist.

Ben Carsen: How was Michigan?

Van Daalen: Beautiful. It is hard to believe we have just been through a war. Wonderful state, wonderful people.

Ben Carsen: Yes. So I wanted to see your response to a few claims. We just had Adriaan Breicht last week. He said you want war.

Van Daalen: *Chuckles* Yes, he said it. I don’t understand why anyone must even take him seriously. We are in the midst of a growing cold war with the other half of what used to be our united nation. He said we want more weapons rather than, what was it?

Ben Carsen: Consumer Goods.

Van Daalen: Yes, yes. No we don’t want less consumer goods. We want a strong industrial and commercial strength for our nation. But we don’t ignore threat standing right outside our borders. I don’t understand how anyone can be a pacifist in these hard times. We are threatened, and they call for us to show weakness, lower our military, and forget our men and women in service. I don’t understand how one can actually be a true pacifist. He must be either crazy or lying. Won’t he pick up weapons to fight in case of a war?

Ben Carsen: So what is your response to him?

Van Daalen: We obviously want peace. The way to maintain it is make sure no one can threaten us. It is simple math. I just don’t understand how can you be a pacifist in our nation today.

Ben Carsen: Thank you. So, another attack came from the populists. They say you are against free trade for the small business owners.

Van Daalen: Why even repeat that? Anyone with a little sense can see right through the lies. Small business owners usually sell to costumers within the borders, they do not really use so called free-trade.

Ben Carsen: So how would you answer it?

Van Daalen: As I said in my latest speech in Michigan. Free trade is a code word for empowering the capitalists and the corporatists. Those who are already rich and powerful. It is a code word for making Amerika dependent on outsiders, an excuse for killing jobs in the name of freedom. We believe in supporting the common men, the middle class. We believe in aiding the majority. Those who have the most have gained it on the backs of others, these others deserve a fair share of their hard work. Who works harder, a factory worker, or a rich businessman? A factory worker. Why does he make less?

Ben Carsen: Won’t such line of thought cause the capitalists to leave our nation?

Van Daalen: No, that is nonsense. They can’t take our resources and people with them. They need us. Let us not make the mistake of who makes more jobs. The people, by buying and supporting local products, they are the job makers.

Ben Carsen: So? Why vice-president? Why not try for the top office?

Van Daalen: No man is an island. No party can win this crazy elections on their own. We looked for allies who we are willing to compromise with, you know, a little compromise to make sure the people get what they need. Peter Van Doorn approached us, telling us of what others are planning to do with their coalitions. We had to make sure those others do not win. We joined hands with him. We are still running our own people in several states and if we appear to have a majority of the votes we will have more power in this coalition.

Ben Carsen: So how come you aren’t the president choice of this elections?

Van Daalen: It was the idea at first, but to make sure the people win, I had to compromise. I am certain Peter Van Doorn will make a powerful president, but we need to make sure that Ghorootste Natie will be the strongest party in such a government, you know, to make sure compromise is for the people. Compromise is important after all for myself to make certain that in all the important details the people win if they elect us.

Ben Carsen: Thank you Van Daalen. Any last words?

Van Daalen: Yes. Every person need to think before he goes to the election booth. He needs to think whether we need a strong army to protect us from threats or not. Does he think we need to help the middle class and make sure our success is shared by everyone? If so, our party is the first and probably only party to stand fully on the side of those ideals. Following the war the United Amerikaner Provinces have received its new independence from the democratic allies of World War 2. Sadly, the occupied brethren in the west were forced to become a communistic state and were separated from our great nation. We now stand before a new era in world history, where freedom and democracy battle against the tyrannical and cruel rule of the communist dictatorships and the encroaching anger and evil of fascism.

  • Ghrootste Natie stands strong on the side of freedom and democracy. Ghrootste Natie will safeguard the democracy of the United Amerikaner Provinces as well as the freedom of the state from the rise of tyranny and communism. We will also continue to work with our democratic allies as long as such an alliance improves that standing of our great nation.
  • Ghrootste Natie stands strong against the dangers of fascism and the evils of communism in our world. Anyone who oppose democracy will be opposed by us. The democratic structure of the United Amerikaner Provinces is still uncertain and in the coming decades our government must show willingness to change the structure of our democracy to maintain its stability and elections.
  • Ghrootste Natie holds a policy of significant activity by the state to maintain and influence the free market of the state, which will remain outside of direct government control. The state’s influence upon the market will be used to achieve goals such as encouraging economic growth, improving the quality of life of all Amerikans and maintaining a certain level of income equality among Amerikans. Our first action will be the restructuring the tax policy of the state in favor of the middle class. We believe that the bigger a person's income, the greater the amount of protection he receives from the government and the greater his obligation to sustain it. Our second action will be the creation of several government agencies that will be responsible for the research and application of various social programs intended to aid the middle class.
  • Ghrootste Natie holds a policy regulatory actions by the government to allow fair competition between imported goods and our own country’s goods and services. Tariffs, quotas and other such methods of restriction to be put on foreign goods in order to maintain our own manufacturing and industrial stability. Above all stands the importance of the Amerikan worker, and in order to maintain the stability of wages and workplaces we must see to it that foreign goods do not take over our own.
  • Ghrootste Natie sees all the different religious denominators who do not break the country’s laws as acceptable. A policy of pluralism and diversity is to be maintained as our religions can co-exist among each other. Government support to religious establishments will be considered to maintain the values and faith of our nation. We must be tolerate towards each other at this era of our times for outside our borders await the communists and fascists, those who lack faith in god and its power over us all. It should be considered to bring forward tests of faith for public service.
  • Ghrootste Natie sees the need to allow foreigners that wish to live within our great country to do so. We support a policy of allowing non-citizen residents in our country, who will receive the protection of the law but will also have to follow our rules, pay our taxes etc. Those who wish to become citizens will have to prove themselves worthy of our nation by joining our military and serving for the defense of the United Amerikaner Provinces. Those resident who have finished a full military service will be able to apply for a citizenship in our nation. We all know the United Amerikaner Provinces were formed by countless generations of immigration but at this trying harsh times we must request that those who wish to join us aid us in protecting our land, that one they wish to one day call their own as well. It should be considered to put forward tests of faith for those who apply for citizenship in order to make certain that no enemy agents will attempt to come into our borders.
  • Ghrootste Natie sees the need for a powerful, enthusiastic and disciplined military for our nation. We wish to put forward laws of conscription for our young citizens in order to maintain a sizable force when war draws to our borders. Such conscription will allow young men to be able to learn stability and command, as well as will encourage nationalism in our younger generations. Conscription of woman should be considered as well. Other than that in order to maintain a large and powerful army we see it required to increase military spending further, perhaps locking it to a certain percentage of our country’s economic ability. We also see the need for the creation of government research and development programs for our military’s advancement. An army of our democracy must be powerful and advanced and our soldiers courageous and enthusiastic.

On the more current issues of our state the Ghrootste Natie stands on the following subjects:
  • The province of Sauk will be given a referendum on deciding on a name change. Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that a plausible possibility will be Eastern Sauk until the unification of the whole province again.
  • The province of Nieuw-Zwedenwill be given a referendum on deciding on a name change. Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that a plausible possibility will be Vrijheid (Liberty) to show our new found democracy and freedom.
  • Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that the territory of Arostoek should be made the newest province of our nation. The new laws we suggest for citizenship should be applied to the population of the province.
  • Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that Ghroot-Motorwercken should be fully funded as well as other national projects. This could be under the jurisdiction of the different government agencies we suggest to create.
  • Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that a new flag is needed for our nation! A county-wide referendum should be held for the choice of our flag, and all citizens should be a part of this vote. We suggest refraining from the use of red color in a possible flag.
  • Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that a new anthem is needed for our nation! A county-wide referendum should be held for the choice of our anthem from a list of possible known national artists. We suggest a national anthem that specifically refers to our nation and nationalism.
  • A government official from our military should be send to the allies to maintain a direct line of diplomacy at all times.
  • Allied bases in our territory should only be considered after making sure the United Amerikaner Provinces have the power to defend itself. Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that in any case we should allow a land-lease proposal to be sent to the allies in order for our democracy to receive some sort of payment in return for allowing them to put military bases on our precious lands.
  • Together with our allies in the Amerika Stijgt (America Rising) coalition we agree that the banning of non-communist or fascist parties should be made illegal. We do need the discussion of whether or not our democracy should allow such non-democratic ideologies in our electorate system, but for now we remain neutral on the idea of banning communist or fascist parties.

We must always remember, we live in a time where peace is but a shroud, hiding our enemies from without and within our borders. On the west sits a communist regime that would not think twice before invading our democracy if we ever show a moment of weakness. Military and economic power, as well as a nationalistic point of view and enthusiasm for our nation will be our wall against the outside threat.

Ooc ninja I had named Frits Jurriaan Rietveld from Nieuw-Amsterdam and Gerrit Reijnder from Michigan. Other than that it's all fine. Can we run a single candidate in each state considering we are two different parties? I mean, don't people vote for parties, not people? What if I'm first place and you are third in a state, we lose a spot, don't we? Cived?
 
Ooc the question is, do people vote for party or for person? If they vote for party, that means running 2 people for my party means that if I'm first place I get both state representatives, but if I run only one, I lose on one representative that will go to second place. So it's smarter, even for a coalition, to run a full election in each state regardless of the risk of harming an ally with the votes. Right? If so, I am (and ninja I assume) will be running 2 candidates for each state.

We should keep things the way they are, territory-wise (except Arostoek and Tunicasie, which should both become states.) As for war, we should remember that diplomacy is the greatest weapon in any nation's arsenal. However, we should always be prepared for war because it can happen at any time. Therefore, we should consider expanding our military.
