What Video Games Have You Been Playing #11: I should go

I've found Sekiro too hard for now, so I've (at least temporaly) given up on it.
As to not feel too much like a noob, I've then started with Bloodborne. It's still a somewhat hard game, but compared to Sekiro it's downright easy (most things are, though). I'm probably at 75 % or so, but I've become a bit tired of the "die and retry" for awhile, so I'm probably going to put it on the shelves for some time too.
Also the From Software games are superb, but REALLY depressing. I need something a bit more upbeat for now.

Belated Dragon Age comment:
City Elf was the first origin story I played, and it's tied with Casteless Dwarf for best.
Might be because I'm biased towards underdogs and outsiders.
Morrigan is one of the best companions if you also have Alistair in the party.

Playing now comment: Three Kingdoms campaign just reached the sad, critical point where I can afford four armies that are strong enough to just autocomplete my conquests.
About to face Lü Bu for the second time. The first time I got crushed, now I'll attack him with another full army to reinforce me.
I'll probably procrastinate the battle because I don't like that much micromanagement.

I was playing some crappy budget horse game and

The horse in question is a foal. I think someone's been sniffing too much manure.

Had a mind to play a chill game of Civ 6 as India and try the new patch.
Did they buff Gandhi ? He seems to have some abilities he didn't have before (extra amenities from multiple religions, extra missionary charges...)

Of course I start on a continent with America, the Zulus and Mongols...

In the matter of about an in-game week, the foal grows up. It's immediately ready to go riding around the countryside after you pet it a few times. This is a very accurate game. :crazyeye:

Now, now, we esteemed members of CFC prefer games in which we dispatch opponents with lethal force rather than wrestling moves. We are people of culture.
We are supposed to command other people to die for us as true civilised rulers.

Unless we're playing platformers, of course.

I found by time, Yakuza 0 is a lot more mature or even tend to pervert than Yakuza Kiwami, a lot of weird and cringey moment I shared with my wife when she joined in, like WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING HERE GAME.

I always try to calm her like "look this is not like what you see", however the game is immensely huge, I don't know how long I dive into this game, but the content is just never finish, this is insane.

However there are several disturbing substories that I found disturbing. One of it is about an immigrant who got scam by a man, who end up holding her passport and other document so she is pretty much depended on him, and he uses this fact to pimp her out for money-gross.

Of course I help her, but I don't like how it end, the end is like the pimp asking the girl to forgive him and he said actually all this time he is in love with her and he want to marry her, I mean what the freak, she accepted his offer saying it is also better for her because it also ease her in a way because she doesn't need to work for a visa or work permit anymore because she already married a Japanese.

That's gross conclusion. That guy deserve to get nice beating before he can go straight to the police. The narrative of marrying the immigrant who he pimp her out as a solution is just gross, it is so gross, it is not only gross because it is gross, it is gross because actually this kind of mentality and perspective do exist and prevail.

And many other gross substories, ugh, the guy who made Yakuza game was an ex Yakuza himself, maybe this is pretty much tell some of his crook sense of morality. Edit: I got it wrong

Hi guys and gals. It's been a while since I last logged in. Been consumed with a bunch of games plus real life stuff but here is what I've been up to lately:

1. Field of Glory: Empires (great game, definitely has that one more turn feeling to it but I'm still undecided if this will stay on my hard drive long term or not)
2. ATS and ETS2 (American/European Truck Simulator games) Man I can't get enough truck driving to satiate my thirst for handling big rigs! Who ever thought driving a truck could be fun?
3. Hell Let Loose (now if you're into old school WW2 first person shooters but want something with a bit more strategy this is the game for you)
4. and last but not least Dominions 5 (been having a lot of fun playing against @Ajidica This game really shines when playing against a human opponent(s). I still have a lot to learn but if you want deep strategy that does not require a PHD in rocket scientistry (I'm looking at you AGEOD games!) then this is for you)

3. Hell Let Loose (now if you're into old school WW2 first person shooters but want something with a bit more strategy this is the game for you)

actual photo of me hearing about this game for the first time

edit: disappoint @ early access, but looks promising nonetheless.
my policy is never to pay companies to help them develop their video games, so I will be waiting on this one with great "anticipation" for its actual release

^Haha! I believe you because that's how I felt when I first heard about the game. Did you get it and if so have you tried the new Utah Beach map?

I have been burnt by early access before, but only... once? Out of like a dozen games. Maybe more.

Nah, your post was the first I heard of it. As I edited there I won't buy it while it's early access, but I am interested in the concept (it seems like a FPS version of company of heroes kinda...) and may well buy it when it actually is released for real.

HLL seems to be tossing around the same ideas and concepts as Post Scriptum, which is an offshoot of SQUAD, which will almost certainly be the first of these three games to reach a 1.0 release (it's approximately three months away if the current update schedule continues apace).

Guys I admire your discipline with regards to not buying early access games. I agree with your reasons whole-heartedly.

But I have to admit when it comes to certain games or genres I am weak and cave in. Have I been burnt? You bet. Do I still fall for this tactic of early access? Only if the price is right and the subject matter interests me. I don't mind taking a bet on an early access game if it is 10 currency units or less. Kind of like playing a scratch ticket but with video games instead.

I try not to buy Early Access games because I dislike learning how to play a game with its available content and then having that compromised constantly. Especially if it breaks saves.

Paradox DLCs are an absolute pain, especially in the beginning. Eventually I just opt out and wait until the development cycle has slowed considerably or stopped.

7 Days to Die and Rust burned me, too.

I'm still grateful to you that you pointed me at KSP. The only problem I ever had with it as an early access title was:
Especially if it breaks saves.
Which was super common for that game and always happened right when I was trying to beat the communist dogs of @warpus -land at some new space spectacular.

haha I had to read that a couple times to figure out what was going on.

I hate it when I have some epic EUIV save going and I load it.. and.. nope, there's a new version, can't play anymore, my save is not compatible. I take long breaks from my games sometimes, but like returning to them

I actually bought Darkest Dungeon as Early Access and preferred the EA version to the release. The EA version of the game was more enjoyable because the devs hadn't spent months listening to the macho posturing of the 'git gud' crowd.

So, wind back to that save's version on Steam and continue playing.
