Hmmmm...do I want intrusive DRM with my game or not...that is the questi...wait, no, that really isn't a question, is it?

I think it was humble bundle, was the inital hook that got me very cheap digital games, then I made money on steam market and before you knew it I was deep into steam sale with everyone else
DRM concerns were left behind in the frenzy of buying cheap games

I was playing some EuIII (my computer can't run EuIV) and everything was fine as I was preparing to declare war on the ottomans at 1406-7 as I usually do (after having taken two other provinces -- you really had to ask which nation I was playing as? come on :p ). Then Naples, who I had a royal marriage with, AND gave them military access to avoid something stupid, declared war on me. Of course I had a bigger fleet, cause I need that to force the ottoman Ai to stay in port (cause in EuIII the mechanic of "lucky nation" along with the "very hard" difficulty I am playing in means they can defeat you when they have 3/5ths of your own fleet, for some bizarre reason :shake: ). So I ended up with half of the provinces of Naples, but lost the chance to declare war on the ottomans when I wanted to and have to take a year or two off to lose war exhaustion.
It is now 1411 and the ottomans are being ruined by the timurids and the golden horde, but again the computer ai is bizarre and tends to allow them to negotiate peace for next to nothing (eg one province, when they are decimated and control nothing).

Civilization Beyond Earth - never got it fully up and running on my old laptop (couldn't handle the graphics properly), but shiny new laptop gives me the chance to resurrect some games.

Meanwhile, to add my two cents, I have played my share of Morrowind. I may well have played several people's shares of Morrowind. My greatest claim to internet fame comes from playing Morrowind.

Nani? what is it?

Purple Phoenix EUIV was fun.

EUIII had it's charms. Legacy of Rome CKII is also fun.

Imagine Skyrim but you share all the enemies, even quest enemies, with everyone else that is playing in your zone/on your server. Someone attacks a mob before you, they get the credit for the kill/drop. Respawns are every few minutes.

How would it make sense to be sharing a world/space with other players, but each of you seeing different enemies? What would be the point of sharing the world in the first place if that weren't the case?

I had the opposite problem - it ran fine for the first couple of years I had it and then I booted it up again after a long time and it was unplayable with massive graphics glitches. I even deleted and re-installed the game and that didn't help. :(

It's a solid game. I wish it had gotten an expansion and it's super derivative of regular Civ but I still like the flavor of the game.

I'm sure that it did get an expansion. Something about a rising tide?

Spent an hour on it last night and can already see the 'just one more turn' feeling creeping in - even though I haven't a clue what I'm doing!

I could of course go looking at the relevant parts of this forum - but that would mean stepping outside Off Topic!

I saw Rome Total War for Android available for $10. Has anyone here actually played this mobile port? Is it any good?

It currently has a rating of 4.6/5 but I see a lot of reviews complaining about controls.

In Minecraft, I burned down my house again (well, the wooden parts) trying to make a fireplace. :ack:

Just saw on Steam that Elder Scrolls Online has a free weekend. I thnk I'll try it.

...in a few of hours...
...it's a 100GB download...

WTH ?
This is really getting out of hand. Had to uninstall several games for this.

Edit: Oh, it just requires 100GB free space. The download is only 86,7 gigs. That's...not really better.
