A lot less stairs in 5 generally. Which I was remarkably fine with.

Process complete, I've even found a new desktop background to replace my longstanding image of Tyrande Whisperwind. It'll be a bit of a cultural shock after nearly a quarter of a century but I think I'll survive.

*sigh*

IMO it's okay to like/play the old Blizzard stuff, as long as current Blizzard gets no money for it. The fact that they're a cesspool of cretins (at the top, apparently they still have some good employees) right now doesn't change that they were once the golden standard of gaming in the 1990s/early 2000s. Heck, most of the people involved in those days are gone.

The main reason I didn't cancel anything with Blizzard over this is that I had already abandoned them in practice starting with Diablo 3. Though I was gifted Overwatch and did play that for a bit a few years ago, Blizzard had already lost a lot of luster prior to their recent nonsense.

I am trying out a new idea for dynasty mode in NCAA Football 14. I call it Road To Redemption. I'm going to play as Ohio State, but the twist is the NCAA has slapped Ohio State with a five year ban on giving out scholarships due to rules violations. I'm going to simulate this by not recruiting any players for my first five seasons. When you do that, the game automatically fills open spots on your roster with walk-ons that are absolute garbage as players.

Can't you train walk-on players up significantly so that you actually have a competent, if somewhat below average, roster? Unless you're playing against human opposition you could probably string out national titles every year of the penalty, including the 5th where literally your entire roster is walk-ons lol.

I guess you'd either need to be willing to use glitches or have significant skill reading passing concepts though. And be pretty disciplined with user defender especially against the run since you'll be overmatched there w/o stacking the box.

That looks very good. I was wondering what happened to Flight Simulator. I guess that.

I suppose this land rendering approach will make location modding obsolete. With FS 2004 and X, custom airports and location mods were big. I suppose it'll need to transition to a plane-only modding approach if you can't add to or alter the land generation.

Yup.
I don't have any subscription service of theirs (i.e. WoW) and after several years of disconnection I caught up with how they'd developed the plotline last year and was glad that I'd lost contact. Notwithstanding that, I still have a few of their old games' installation discs (all the pre-‘world of’ Warcrafts, Starcraft, etc.) so I can just install the stuff and play it without giving them any money or having to log on to anything.
And also the old (non-remastered) versions of Starcraft are already available for free so should my discs ever die, or should I lose the key, I could get them for 100% price- and virus-free.
But… I don't know, something's changed.

It's the straw that broke the camel's back, I suppose. First it was the knowledge that Blizzard had developed a fully-working launcher for Linux for its flagship game WoW and then buried it making up an excuse of difficulties in distribution that anybody who uses a Linux rig knows is idiotic (seriously, Discord, Heroes of Newerth, DotA2, etc. all run natively on my 11-year-old rig -the unconfirmed rumour was/is that Microsoft bunged them some cash to have them close it down, and suddenly the thread was closed by Blizzard stuff).
Then it was the bad plotlines and also a rereading of the old user manuals: ‘you should play with the undead scourge, you get to control elvish corpse-women with big tits!’ (again, seriously! the rape analogy in Arthas' actions regarding Sylvanas and the other Banshees is too close for this day and age).
And now it's their caving in to China, reinstating the player and his winnings but also issuing a message for China only that goes on about the dignity of the state, etc.… eh.

:dunno:
I might replay their old games, yes, but that's as far as I may go.

QFT

I'd been growing disenchanted with Blizzard for years already.

In Minecraft, I was driving my carriage when it suddenly started sliding sideways. I got out of it to detach it from my horse and it flew up into the sky, taking the horse with it. I haven't seen either since. It's like the boats from the older version that would randomly teleport to an island 50 blocks away and explode into a pile of wood.

I found a donkey not too far away, though.

When I loaded the game again the carriage and horse plummeted down from the sky. The horse survived.

I won't ask.

I have finally decided™ to mod Wesnoth. One day (in the for now distant future) I shall be shamelessly advertising my own campaign so that you lot play it.
Progress report:
main character list ✔
basic plot and partial dialogue for 6/10 projected scenari ✔
Let's see whether I can finish all the outlining before the weekend.

That reminds me of when I was a wee lad. I had a few outlined Civ 3 mods, got them off the ground floor, and then never finished them. Disappointing.

I think the only game I ever modded to completion was Flight Simulator 2004. But the scope of modding that was so much smaller than a Civ mod.

What happened when I wanted to mod civ was that I had so much time I never got things done. Now it's completely different.

I once attempted to make a mod for the Sims 2 that let my sims autonomously order a pizza if they were hungry. Surprisingly, I got it to actually work.

Unfortunately, this resulted in them ordering endless pizzas until their money ran out.

The only modding I have done is tweak plaintext .ini or .cfg files

I tried to see if I could find a screenshot of the pizza disaster. Instead, I found this.

There's not much more to do in Wesnoth, unless you want/need to create your own graphics, but that's like saying that all you have to do to become an engineer is learn some stuff from some books and do some practice. It's technically accurate and yet completely misguiding.

I have questions to my past self.

I play on All-American with sliders that I got from Operation Sports that make the game play more realistically. I've tested it out and the sliders do work well. Even with a stacked team, playing a powerhouse like Alabama is going to be the game of your life, while playing a team like UMass will be a cakewalk. I'm also doing another dynasty where I try to turn Idaho (the worst team with the fan made 2019 rosters) into a national champion. With the realistic sliders on, I actually lost my season opener to North Texas, a game I would have easily won, even with Idaho, with the default sliders.

The biggest challenge to my Road To Redemption dynasty though is going to be coaching contracts. Ohio State demands I win at least 12 games a year or I'll be on the hot seat and might get fired. I could turn coaching contracts off, but that's no fun.

A death worm ate my donkey. The donkey didn't survive.

I also killed my first fire dragon! I found a dragon roost...right next to a village. Needless to say, I didn't find any villagers.
