What Video Games have you been playing II: Have you finished that backlog?

Reading cybrxkhan's posts about CKII reminds me of a friend who recently relayed the tale of a few of his coworkers who play CKII. They'll talk about it in the hallways and elevators at work, and people will look at them really strange because they'll be talking about incest and assassinating people and all sorts of other really awful things, all the while seeming not at all concerned. My friend's a bit more diplomatic about where he discusses CKII happenings, probably wisely so.

Me, I usually don't engage in the really mean stuff like assassinations and expelling Jews and world conquest unless if I have no choice. Only really questionable thing I do is incest, but even then I try to keep everyone in as monogamous and healthy relationships (well, as monogamous and healthy as brother-sister bonding can get...).

Well, I suppose incest will get me a few stares. I think I enthusiastically marry my rulers' children to each other more so than people are usually enthusiastic about killing Karlings or WC. Especially twins. They came into this world together, after all.

cyber khan, your incest is bordering legendary

I have been playing Wasteland 2 and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey as of late.

Wasteland 2 isn't exactly known for its availability of ammo, btw.

All part of the challenge. I assume you have some melee characters as the frontline.

Beat The Final Fantasy Legend doing one a character challenge. Switched to Link's Awakening.

Whether that is a good or a bad thing shall remain for future historians.

It's come to the point where I just can't play CKII without making sure I can pair up as many of my kids with each other as I can. :/

You get a sibling-spouse! You get a sibling-spouse! Everybody gets a sibling-spouse!

(On a more practical note, the sibling bonding does 1) help keep good congenital traits in the bloodline, and 2) ensures most of the main branch of the family still looks Asian)

Doesn't this lead to massive amounts of gimpy sperm icons?

Yes, it's true there's always the risk of getting the inbred trait and if this were real life I'd only enforce the sibling bonding every other generation. However, 1) it's very uncommon to get the inbred trait (relatively speaking (no pun intended)); 2) given that the inbreeding will also keep good traits in the family, it kind of balances things out; 3) the few poor sods that do happen to have the inbred trait tend to have lower health, so they usually die of poor health early on anyways so they tend not to be an issue. Amusingly enough, I think I've had more inbred trait from cousin marriages than sibling marriages (though even then it's pretty rare). Out of the hundred of hours I've played, I can probably count the number of inbred characters I got with my fingers, and some of those weren't even from sibling/cousin couples (shockingly enough).

tl;dr: not really much a risk, benefits outweigh costs. :mischief:

Which, of course, begs the question of how many fingers you have per hand...

You clever man.

Though, to answer your question, five fingers per hand, last time I counted.

I'll count again to make sure. Let's see... one, two, three, four, five on my left hand; one, two, three, four, five on my right hand. Yup, five fingers per hand. :goodjob:

Does it also increase the risk of imbecility? One... two... that spells moon? :mischief:

If they have the imbecile traits, I suppose, yes, but I usually marry those kids off to other families. I may have incestuous principles I try to adhere to, but sometimes I have to make compromises and be practical. Well, unless if they have a twins, since, y'know, twins came into this world together and all that.

Go, B! :)

I've been playing CKII when I'm not watching Arumba's Let's Plays.
