What war(s) would you like to see?

Civil War in Dublin. I'd love to see the two sides fighting over their crappy, grimy, depressing city. Hopefully most of it would be destroyed.

Us Northsiders would wallop those bleached blonde, rugby-loving, date-rapist bastards back into the stone age. I'd have to be a fifth-columnist, living in Dundrum as I do.

Tonga vs Bhutan. Just watching them trying to figure out the logistics of such a conflict would be a laugh.

I'd also like to see America finish it's occupation of the Moon. They need to learn that you can't just cut and run from every conflict!

I like the classics. Germany vs France, no nukes, and no one else involved. France might win:)

Nowadays they'd win easily. Of course, they could always be completely caught off-guard by a German thrust through the Ardennes. It's never been done before.

Maybe for a change the UK and USA could help the Germans out.

Exactly it woulod be hilarious. They could put the that big iron tower in Paris and relocate it to Stalingrad and park it beside that big victory statue they have.

Who the hell is that women in your avatar Dachs?

The Japanese bring the robot, ninja samurai. All settle then world dog piles on France, and we make them drink Turkish wine after they surrender?

All right: barring the fact that I personally wouldn't be all that pleased to see much of any war, barring butthurt whining about asinine stupidity of matching up ridiculous crap, and all that: these are some matchups I could be interested in.

I think it could potentially have been pretty interesting to see the Mongols run up against the longbow-and-defensive heavy infantry armies of Edward I and his successors. Mostly from a tactical point of view. I think it'd be kinda neat. Along similar lines, I'd be interested in seeing how well the Indo-Pahlavan heavy cavalry horse-archers and lancers of Gondophares would have fared against, say, the Satavahanas' mixture of heavy infantry (in both the Greek and Indian guild-warrior variants) and longbowmen. Admittedly these aren't particularly interesting from any point other than a tactical one, but still.

I always was rather impressed by von Metternich's aversion of Italian war in the early 1830s with France, but abstractly a war between Austria on the one hand and France on the other, with a Neapolitan wild card, an unstable Papacy, a (shockingly) pro-Austrian Piedmont-Sardinia, and excellent scope for expanding a war into the Low Countries and Germany would be interesting. Presents a rather odd operational dilemma for France, their best option is hitting up Naples but after that it's a tossup to see who can hold (or take and hold as the case may be) Lombardy, which would be the key to any war.

Similarly, 1848 presents a few good possibilities. Outside of the lunatic schemes of von Arnim-Suckow, there's always a good chance for Cavaignac to have entered the Italian war, or taken the opportunity to have a jolly revanche against the Germans and the Belgians. It'd have been a proper revolutionary year instead of a lame one.
We were just having fun Dachs, but you took it too far.
Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Michelle Branch.

How about just decent coverage of the wars that have been going on there since the mid-90s? Just like the Iran-Iraq War in the 80s or the Yugoslav implosion, it's a huge conflict that gets next to no coverage.

If there isn't a widely known massacre or a bunch of Western hostages, wars like these receive next to no press at the time and little examination later. I'd be very much interested in a detailed military history of such conflagrations in addition to the relatively more common accounts of their political, social, or economic aspects.

True, those wars could be interesting. The problem may be that there's no journalist willing to go down to the war zones, because they're very likely to be killed or captured, if I have the right impression of those wars.

I'm sure they would. I wouldn't want to be near Dundrum though, I'm sure the D4 types would fight hard for their shopping center. Although you could turn that place into a stronghold not seen since the Red October Factory at Stalingrad.

I live in Finglas this year, I'm pretty sure nobody wants to fight over it.

Now, now, less of your culchee spleen.

Besides, if Dublin goes, you'll have refugee jackeens wondering aimlessly about the whole island.

Thats a good point. We'd have to set up some sort of wall to pen them in.

We could always drop cell phones onto the soldiers and just read their twitters.

Given the fact that Finglas west is probably the most militarised area on Earth outside the DMZ, I can't imagine anyone would be stupid enough to try and take it ;)

I want to see Russia vs. Ukraine.
It would be a real test of the loyalties of the Ukraine people. People loyal to Russia and people loyal to NATO. And others loyal to an Independent Ukraine.
This would be a crazy 3 way war of regions! Russia supporting Pro-Russians while Ukraine falls apart and Russia comes in to restore Order.
Nice idea for a war.

Do you Russians think about women when you pleasure yourselves, or just unrealistic foreign relations scenarios? Because I'm guessing the latter.

All but the most radical pro-Russian Ukrainians would support Ukraine during a Russian invasion. Ukrainians loyal to NATO and those loyal to an independent Ukraine would doubtless unite against the Russians and their collaborators. While NATO might stand by and watch Georgia get invaded, The Ukraine borders several EU states, so they won't simply stand by and watch that happen. Unless Ukraine provokes a war, or NATo is hopelessly occupied at the time, NATO will defend it.

Germany & Hungary vs France and Czech Republic
Ukraine vs Belarus
Lithuania vs Latvia
Russia vs China

I'm becoming very skeptical about your knowledge of international relations. NATO would under no circumstances go to war with Russia over Ukraine. It's not even a member. And as for Ukranians 'loyal to NATO'??? Seriously what are you even talking about my friend.

You are way off here... in any case a war between Russia and Ukraine would be over before anyone else could get involved.
