According to most horoscope listings Sept 23 is Libra and not Virgo, so I voted Libra.

Sorry, TLC - I don't take it seriously, but I haven't seen enough to convince me to dismiss it entirely.

That's what I always figured too, but apparently it has something to do with the location of certain constellations at certain times or whatever... anyway, it turns out that everything is way off.

What sign you are is determined by what constellation the Sun was in on your birthday a couple of millennia ago. A standard complaint against the Western tradition of astrology is that if the stars really determine or influence our lifes as astrology claims, one'd expect the Sun's position wrt the stars on your actual day of birth to be the important thing.

The sun counts as a planet. Does that make any sense? Of course not, but making any sense has never been a priority for astrologers anyway.

True I guess. I suppose the fact that they make a living off other people's credulity isn't their fault either, as they were doing it before anyone knew any better.

Maybe I should give them a break, and count them as solid citizens just looking to turn a buck in this crazy world.
