What's your favorite plant?

Oddly enough my favorite plant is also named Bob. He's a lantana. His barrel is right next to the desk at my girlfriend's house that my computer is on. Needless to say, I spend a lot of time with Bob.

Mine is the coastal redwood.

Same.

Forreal though it's the Live Oak for me. A solitary Live Oak in an empty field is, to me, the most serene, most beautiful image I can imagine. It's what I think of when I think of California. It's what I think of when I think of home.

Cannabis

The kauri is pretty neat. Sequoias are cool, too.

Notable mentions are the totara and the paulownia tomentosa.

Catnip, love watching the pussies go wild for it.

I'm also a big fan of the tree that grows cacao beans.

"So what's that tree growing out of Your head ?"
"That's Herbert I talk to him when I get lonely...hehe (coughs hevily).. just kidding he's name's BOB !"

I had an aloe vera when I was little that I took care of in return for it taking care of me. I really liked it.

Pineapple. We used a pineapple fruit in order to have a complex discussion with the daughter on the definition of 'alive'. And then we ate it and grew it into a bush too.

Mine is probably the gingko tree, because I think it's the coolest tree around here.

I've been meaning to get one. How hard are they to maintain?

My favorite plant is the Tulip. They look and smell amazing.

This is a close second and it's one of the things I miss from Southern Illinois. That was the first area I lived in that I felt connected to after having moved so much growing up an army brat.

I'm surprised that they grow that far north but an open space near a drive way is pretty close to an ideal growing location for them. They don't compete very well in dense forests. How big is yours? There are some at SWIC in Belleville that are absolutely enormous, easily 40 feet tall at the crown and 3 foot thick at the base of the trunk. When they're able to grow by themselves over a long time they can get huge which is something you rarely run into in the wild.
