If it were just Adam and Eve and no one else (since they interact non-sexually) I assume there wouldn't be much in the way of skyscrapers etc. on either side. Both would probably be dancing around a camp fire until one or both decided to like the other. don't you think?

Not sure why you're using a hypothetical. Since we started from hunting and gathering, my money is on women (the gatherers). They stumbled upon natural selection of grains and Bingo! Agriculture. (Took a couple of tens of thousands of years though. Minimum.) Then the men took the credit and gave you your wonderful buildings. And they are still doing it.
