My genetics final on Monday was worth 100% of my grade, but it could also be worth 75% or 50% depending on how well I did on my midterms.

Yes but how much is one test worth over all? By the end of it i'd had so many exams for my Zoology Degree, each one was only worth a few percent.. made it hard to bother to revise for some!

If a test is worth 100% of your grade, whatever your marks are on that test is your final grade in that class. You're welcome.

Yes, but how many classes do you take? As I said, over my whole degree, individual classes were barely worth a few percentage points by the end.

That matters not to the class itself. Your grade point average is an entirely different beast than a single class grade.
