While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

My courage got inflamed a few years back so the doctors had it removed. I receive biweekly gallantry injections to compensate.

Humans have an innate ability to make alcohol out of anything in their environment.
It's beyond that really. It's not even humans (Elephants drink Alcoholic things in nature as well). Alcohol is some basic trait of the universe. It's not humans who make alcohol from everything - it's that EVERYTHING turns into alcohol in one way or another...

So I am nearing the end of putting up stats for my NES and I have a bunch of NPC's that I would not mind becoming PC-controlled, so I was wondering if you guys would be able to direct me to where I would most likely find new players if I advertise my nes.

Put it in your sig, then post in two threads in each forum. Make a good intellegent post and a good, thoughtful ad and BAM, you have joinees.

. But I like dragons. I like being chinese; Therefore, Chinese Dragon. If someone can get me a better one, than maybe.

Does it give me a threatening posture for newbs? Hehe, I like that thought.

More people would join your NESes if your avatar wasn't so darn creepy. >_>

But it's so inviting!

I think he meant me, Terrance.

To nutra: [constructive criticism] I prefer updates without pictures, unless they're used as a heading or something (and are historically relevant). When I read fantasy books, I don't like pictures - except for maps. Part of the fun of reading fantasy (or anything, for that matter) is visualizing the author's descriptions. Plus, I know a lot of your photos are from D&D monster manuals, which doesn't exactly make a whole lot of sense in a non-Forgotten Realms universe (but rather a universe which is presumably entirely player-created and should rely on unique player descriptions moreso than out-of-context visuals).

And I'm sure most of your players don't care, but thought I'd just put in my entirely subjective opinion. :)

In response to that (and I appreciate constructive criticism to no end): the only reason I use pictures is to keep things from being a wall-of-text. Sometimes if I feel as if the picture is too... defining or something like that, I'll pop into photoshop, diddle around a bit, and hope that it's vague enough to let the player plaster whatever face they want onto what they see. Personally, I find it difficult to read a NES update without having something to break it up such as pictures.

I can understand that, and I do like the photoshopped eyes and other features. I guess calling it constructive criticism is a misnomer because it isn't a one-size-fits-all sort of thing, and is maybe not very constructive to people with a different viewpoint.

I like walls of text, personally. ;)

Haha, see, I can take a wall of text when I am reading a book (because that what a book is), but something about computures make it difficult for me to read for very long. Maybe it's the computer light? Or that I'm not as stimulated (i.e. you turn the pages of a book). Not sure, it's just a personal problem, really.

And I do take it as constructive criticism. For future efforts I am probably going to strive to put pictures only where they need to be, but I also plan to make sure I never post an update that is 5 posts long, so there will be no need for that many pictures. :p

I have actually committed myself to making sure that my updates here on out are broken up via short blurbs rather than massive lore-vomits with pictures. I would rather just present the information that players need to know in an easily digestible fashion that also reads well. We'll see!

I like pictures in my updates when they are daunting walls of text. When they are short blurbs about events broken up by faction like EQ's or TLK's updates they don't need pictures and I don't really care either way. However, when they are massive lore vomits, I quite like pictures interjecting here and there to break up the text. I like both styles of updates, but I actually prefer the lore-vomits. I find them quite interesting and they really help flesh out the world.

Yeah, but they take a week to write and cause you to fall behind schedule. I've not even gotten around to starting the appendixes yet :~I
