Update 4 - I Hope The Inquisitors Love Their Children Too

uVYyY.png

The Monarchy and the Republic agree on an alliance, and launch an epic fleet of war towards the desert world of Khadir. Their combined battlefleet meets a sole Cruiser of the Caliphate, which is taken by surprise, but fights gallantly, blowing up a Republican Interceptor before it succumbs to numerous blows, exploding violently in upper orbit.

Now, the besiegers float above the world. The Caliphate has a large garrison on their homeworld, and could hold out for some time...but will their leaders lose the will to fight? Perhaps the Inquisition will soon intervene in this conflict, or perhaps it will continue on enigmatically as always. The same could be said for the Empire. For now, both factions have continued to quietly expand, but for how long?

OOC: Some clarifications have been made to how besieging a planet works. Check the ruleset on the last page.

Also, skep came back, so I used his orderset instead of Luckymoose's.

UPDATE 5 - Message In A Spaceship

For decades to come, historians will pore over the audiovisual records and memoirs of the Battle of Khadir.

The first massive fleet engagement in the Julian System was fought between a coalition of the Republic and the Monarchy, and the Caliphate attempting to break the Caliphal resistance around their homeworld. The decision of the Monarchy to send one of their frigates away from the impending battle to capture Antioch was controversial, but it netted an immediate gain.

Opposing the newly arrived Republican Battleship arrived from Taranis, a Republican Dreadnought, and a sole Monarchy Frigate, was a newly constructed Caliphal Interceptor, and a Carrier Battle Group with 3 supporting frigates, one newly constructed. The Caliphate had scratched every ship for this battle.

The opening salvos occurred. The Monarchical Frigate was outdodged by the Carrier-supported Caliphal Frigates, and shattered by the first shot of the Interceptor. Then, the big guns began to fire. A massive railgun shot from the Dreadnought RNS Virtue annihilated the Interceptor in a pillar of fire, while the Battleship RNS Terror landed multiple punishing hits on the Caliphal Carrier. In retaliation, the fighters swarmed the Dreadnought, its heavy guns unable to deal with the maneouverable smaller ships, which soon tore it to pieces.

The second round of combat pitted three surviving frigates against a sole Battleship. Against any other foe, the Battleship would be impregnable. But the weakness of the Allied fleet was demonstrated here: It had no mid-range ships to kill frigates. The Battleship showed its power by killing a Frigate despite their dodges, and survived two rounds of combat, before exploding in a massive, incredible nova that rained chunks of metal across the deserts of Khadir for days.

Against all odds, the Caliphate was victorious.

Other things happened in the Galaxy, like the staging of the Empire's fleet for an invasion of Aeras, and the aggressive northern expansion of the Inquisition, I guess.

In his defense, I originally played the Republic and he took you as my replacement because I hadn't logged in or sent orders early enough the next day, but I eventually made it later in the afternoon and since you were gone, I was allowed to resume control.

And ruined everything. Now I know better than to subscribe myself to a Thlayli NES of any kind.

Contemplating coming back... should I?

I was actually toying with doing an old style 2003ish nes.... if anyone was interested.. lol
