While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Wow, just wow.

I'll postpone mine back to the New Years then.. Been waiting since the start of Fall for a nice time to stick a new fresh start NES in. Was going for Thanksgiving week.

Much more important to running a successful NES is the ability to update regularly than the existence of other NESes in the same niche- if you have the time and the will Terrance, you shouldn't feel alarmed by the existence of other Fresh Starts.

There is always room for more NES.

Well, I got the feeling that Thlayli was espousing an 'If you're not sure you can do it, don't even try' attitude, with which I disagree.

Maybe I'm trying to toughen the lad up a little and test his resolve. Coddling children produces spoiled adults, you know. :p

The proper response to someone telling you, "You will fail," is to say back, "No I won't!" and to try all the harder. Maybe that's the type of response I'm trying to elicit.

There is a difference, of course, between encouraging and coddling. I'll be supportive, but I won't cut people a blank cheque. :)

Hello every one. I am looking for talented writers who wish to participate in a fantasy NES of epic proportions. Here is the thread. Sekai is only a single region of a fantasy world only slightly smaller than our own Earth. There are several continents, but our gameplay will (for now) be centralized in the region of Sekai. Surrounding Sekai is an ancient republic, an equally ancient empire, and a horde of superstitious, religious fanatics. They are not going to bother us too much, though, for a variety of reasons (namely, the religious fanatics view Sekai as a cursed land and refuse to venture there, while the republic and empire scramble to protect their realms from the said horde). Sekai features the standard fantasy races, while elsewhere in the world, other races (might) live.

In Sekai II, you can be one of the following: nation, city-state, guild, party, or character. The general setting is rather stereotypical for a fantasy game. However, once I have several player proposals, I will craft a politically-intriguing, nuanced fantasy environment. I enjoy the inclusion of politics and culture in my fantasy settings. :) Therefore, the NES will take some time to launch, as I want to carefully put everything together and make our political and social setting something worth playing in.

So, please check the thread out and submit a proposal in-thread. Your proposal will be considered, and then transformed into a simple profile a la Lords of the Rising Sun-style. No tech or insane stats in this NES. Just descriptive profiles and good, old-fashioned story.

The result was well worth the nagging. ;)

I'm excited for Sekai II! I've been looking for some story-writing and interaction. Between working on that, the LotRS update, a story for GalaxyNES, and now finishing up a profile for lj's NES - I sure have my hands full on this forum. It's a good full, though.

Anybody know much about freelance writing? I'm looking to earn a little extra cash, but I'm not sure where to begin my search or what the market is like. Is there anyone around here who knows whats the deal?

Space Weasel your way into some online news organizations by sending in copies of your writing. If you're lucky, and send to the right people, you might get to write a small time article on something.
