I just discovered the joys of Denmark in EU2. Early game, I just stayed out of wars, raising up innovation and centralisation. That makes tech easier to get, like the trade tech. By 1500-something trade income is already higher than tax or production income. Lots of money for colonising and stuff when the Danish explorers and conquistadors finally appear. And wars, like to totally rape Sweden when they DoW'd me. England and France seemed slow to do anything in NA this game, so expansion in NA was mostly peaceful.

Late game, 1700's, I was exploiting the causus belli you get when people give you trade embargos, because your awesome traders have monopolized all their centres of trade. Hi-tech Danish armies took most of the CoT's in asia that way. Because conquering them means noone can embargo you anymore, plus then you get the extra trade tolls. Basically infinite money. The first game I ever finished with totally maxed out tech in all areas and inflation at 0. Denmark had colonized Australia too and had outposts all over the place. Just a shame most of Europe was left to languish under the rule of Hapsburg inbreds.

Read the NESing guide if you haven't already and then pick a NES you like the look of and jump in. If you haven't been lurking make read through the entire thread beforehand to get the measure of the game and NESing in general.

Is there any paticular game your looking for? I was a shy too and I read the forums several weeks before joining. Pretty much everyone is nice and friendly to new people so long as you are willing to learn and improve yourself. Our community would die without new people wandering in.

EQ is currently running a NES called Revolution#2 and I am sure you can pick up a small nation to learn how to play. There are a lot of nice people in there that will help you learn the ropes including me .

nvm, nvm your shyness. A thick skin will serve you better than social skills - if you can brush off a few embarassments and defeats you'll grow into a quality player in no time. I think EQs NES would be a good one to start in. If you have questions, ask them here or PM nice people.

Do you enjoy writing at all? Writing stories for your nations is a good way to get involved.

There is no need to be shy with NESing. As recommended EQ's NES would be a good start with plenty of countries open and plenty of players more than willing to help you. A suggestion would be to PM EQ asking for country suggestions and also telling him how you would like to play(militaristic, politically, economically or internally).

nvm, welcome to the forums! We like when new people arrive; as long as you act decently, there's no harm in you joining anything. The mentality in here might be intimidating at first, but it pays off in the long run - some people might bash you, but only for the intention of making you a better player.

NESing is very enjoyable. Pick up a small nation (EQAndCivfantic's NESes tend to be simple and very pleasant to play in), roll up some stories, try to make your nation succeed. It's very easy when getting the hang of. I hope you will enjoy yourself in here.

Yeah, what they said. We like individuals who have a good grasp of historical concepts and are always trying to improve their knowledge. It's competitive, and you'll probably get your ass handed to you militarily a few times, but that's all part of the learning experience.

Regular EU2 with AGCEEP mod. Yeah I just let Sweden fight russia alone, and then generally freeze to death. I paid out about 500 ducats to end wars with Russia in the first couple of centuries. I don't quite know how Austria ended up with possession of Finland, but it formed a convenient barrier to Russia for the last half of the game.

And of course by Hapsburg i meant Habsburg.

I ought to play AGCEEP more. Making Sjælland a CoT really helps things out.
