Being put off by challenge is why you're in the 99%.

When you say stuff like this, it makes me feel stupid. :(

I'm going to apologize right now to everyone's NES who I am in for the half-month-long disappearance/not sending orders for that time.

I don't recall a multiplayer aspect, Tycho.

Yeah, must have been a mistake on my part. Though Dwarf Fortress does look very interesting and poses a nice challenge, I'll have to look into it some time.

Oh hey, I should've checked WWW earlier! I've been picking back up DF for the last day and a half or so too Lucky.

Questions:
- I have no metals other than lead/silver. I've started mining out an unused mountain to look for deposits, and melted down everything I could. Are there any other metal-procuring methods I'm missing?
- Have you figured out minecarts yet?
- I have a mood dwarf requesting silk. Elven caravan's already come and left. Any way of getting silk other than digging down to the caverns? My main exploration shaft got flooded by a bathtub leak, and opening up a second would look ugly.
- 40-migrant wave means I now have about 20 extra useless haulers. What do?

All right, so. Here is the most recent Jade Moon map, showing borders of houses (there are other maps showing settlement names / trade / biomes and geo).

This is sort of a "last call" for submissions / proposals. All of the white space on that map has potential (as does House Telmau). Ask me to tell you more about a specific area, and I will. If you look in my sig, there is a link to the wiki and the OP. The wiki is about 5% filled up at this point, so don't use that as a definitive reference at this point -- but it could still help you get an idea for everything. Because we are technically in the proposal / setup phase, there is still room for worldbuilding.

Never hesitate to ask questions via PM or in-thread. :) This is my final plug. Good day.

What is the DF story line?

If that is an answer to my question, it is not very helpful, Iggy ;). Are there dwarves? Hobbits? Dragons? Is it an economic game or battle game?

Although I understand your question, asking for a storyline kind of beckons an answer about a storyline, not the worldbuilding elements you're rather asking for here. If you wanted a description about the world's design, asking for a storyline only gets you so far, especially because it is procedurally generated in DF. :p

DF's storyline.

7 Dwarves.
1 Fortress.
Years Pass.
Fun Occurs
One Mistake
!!FUN!! Occurs
Your Settlement has fallen.
Rinse/Repeat

Ok so it is a world building game. Can you ever have more than 7 dwarves? What creates the "fun occurs" as the game advances? What creates the "!!FUN!! Occurs" later in the game? :p

Never mind, I'm reading the wiki...

Yes, you can have more than 7 dwarves. Many many more.

Mega projects. Fantastical creatuers. Wars. Strange artifacts. Love triangles. ect ect ect ect ect

Clowns. Lots and lots of Clowns. They come from the circus. Or maybe you pull the wrong lever. A person falls to his death, making everyone murderous. A noble goes crazy. A single goblin kills a cat. Elves. Goddamn elves. A butterfly corpse stops you from closing a door.
