I was surprised too [re: opposition based on her gender]. I figured that (as with... you know... Obama being black) they'd try to figure out a less obviously :WTH: way to say it.

It bugged me when we were told we were getting a 2:1 deal in 1992...a lot.

Theeeere we go. :)

(although, I'll note that we've gone 7 whole pages without a single reference to pantsuits. So that crowd has been remarkably restrained.)

Just brought something to mind.

It's got Dick Morris and Joe Klein all in one book! What's not to love?

See, you were all THINKING that my continual references to Dick Morris as the ultimate purveyor of irrelevant "I wish I could still blame all the world's problems on the Clenis" screeds were exaggerations. I assure you, no. :scan:

I've read reasons on message boards that goes something like we're in such a mess (not talking about Iraq but generally in the US with regard to health and education etc...) that only a woman can possibly solve these issues. I actually agree. I think what America needs right now is a woman's touch and a woman's perspective on running things. And see if a she can do better.

Hillary won't be the first woman president, she'll just be the first wife president.

As a side note, I'd wholeheartedly vote for a Downtown/Yankee ticket. ;) As long as I secure a Cabinet position.

It's better than most of the candidates out there...

Ok, I'll support Downtown/Yankee '08. I want to be Secretary of Offense

Yup as said 1000 times in this thread.

It's on about the same level as Rudy "Join the GOP in hopes of a job" Giuliani and Mitt "Running for President? Time to become prolife!" Romney.
Pretty much.

Personally I can't WAIT for Michelle Malkin to be 'disappeared' under the Patriot Act.
Yep. I think she'll love that Act a little too much to let go as President. That's not good.

First of all, less "dug up" more "forwarded what Dick Morris sent him."

Second, less "that hint" more "completely slander".
Wow, I did not know Amadeus had those kind of contacts. I need a job...wonder if he could hit me up.

The quotes as a whole are assembled to "hint" that Hillary will interfere in the free market in unprecedented, unpopular ways. The majority of the actual quotes, in context, have ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN NOTHING to do with "the free market."
Yet it does look like she'd want more government control.

The best example is "the free market has failed" where she was talking about how "churches, schools, government, and the free market" have failed to give young women good advice about whether or not to get an abortion.

Come ON.
So what the heck was her solution for it? It'd be government control on it, wouldn't it? Though I wouldn't be opposed to that use, that it seems to be the first answer for everything is worrying.

And I'm coming on....

I know that some people want to look "moderate" and thus will always try to split the balance between two opinions on any issue. And yknow what? That's why emails like these succeed. Because people always want to look like they believe "there may be a hint of truth here."

No. There isn't.
Sometimes splitting the difference is good...sometimes not. I don't get such e-mails (or many political e-mails period), so I wouldn't know what kind of lovely hatchet jobs are waiting on the Internets.

So it might be fake, but it's accurate?
That's why they would work. If they were fake, it'd still be close enough that people could buy it. Now, if it were a quote that said she said "I do adore Saddam Hussein. I just love that man. He can plunder my oil fields anytime," that'd be a lot less believable, wouldn't it? And it wouldn't hold true to form, given her hawkishness on that issue.

It's Wednesday's episode of "Hannity & What?"!

Never read the thing, but that is one hilarious cover, given Irish Caesar's picture.

What the hell does the free market have to do with educating children about abortion? Is there a market for abortion information? Is it too expensive? That's freakin ********! She threw that last sentance in there for rhetoric - and now she is stuck with it - tough crap. If she wants to blame the lack of moral training in the US on the failure of the free market, that's her problem and noone needs to apoligize for pointing out her idiocy.

She said the free market failed. She blamed the free market. I don't give a crap what she is talking about - you don't blame the free market for societies failures - that would be communist. I wouldn't blame any inanimate object for anything - because that would be ********. However, perhaps when it is time to pay taxes, I will just send Hillary a note: "Sorry, can't pay taxes - table failed, not my fault".

Now, see, this is why when I argue w/ you I don't feel like I'm wasting my time. :) You're one of the very few conservatives I've met who isn't hypocritical on this issue of Hillary and her marriage. Kudos.
Thanks, man. :) Honestly, I will never understand why folks dig on her for her hubby's philandering. While I certainly would not have criticized her for divorcing Bill given what he did, the fact that she sticks it out impresses me. Yes, it may be politically motivated, but ya know there is absolutely no proof of that, and I'm certainly not going to accuse someone of politicizing their marriage without proof. So sans proof, she gets a thumbs-up from me, marriage-wise.

Still, I think Brownback is a menace, but whatchagonnado. :)
Short of ressurecting Reagan, abolishing the two-term limit, and curing alzheimer's in the recently brought back from the dead, I dunno!

Wow, I did not know Amadeus had those kind of contacts.

Yes, he's emailed by the rich and powerful all the time. Usually through NewsMax. And, usually, they're hitting him up for money. But that's allright. That's the price you pay for moving in those circles!

Why dyou suddenly want to cure teh Alz? Didn't seem to bother too many Republicans during his second term.

I would support your second point, and then hope that Bill Clinton ran again.

Bill Clinton '08!

Nothing like a Grey-Haired Eminence from behind the throne. Or was it thong? Think the First Couple-to-be-again may suffer through some similar scandals or did Slick Willy's heart problem take him out of the game?

if she's nuts, her gender shouldn't matter. We wouldnt elect an insane guy either.

No, she is a bad choice because she is female and bats**t insane. If she weren't the latter, it wouldn't matter.

That is totally sexist. There is no reason for you to bring her being female into the discussion at all, for any other reason. I remember a post where someone complained that they could not get laid, and was trying to do so via a "formula" derrived from books. This is the same type thing.

Listen, (yes, I'm actually Kurt Vonnegut)

A woman is capable of anything a man is (spare me the sophmoric biological retort). They are equaly competant leaders. They are equals. They are individuals. The sooner someone realizes this, the sooner they can quit learning modern sociology from books - because women will talk to them.

Long suspected, and now confirmed beyond doubt: you are nothing but a sexist pig. I don't have time for people like you.

I never hated her, but I didn't plan on voting for her... until I found myself defending her in the forums earlier (people seem to habitually bash her, not just on this forum). I realized that she has grown immensely since the health care thing some 15 years ago, and see that she may actually be the best choice out of the available candidates this year. I'll make my final decision as the campaign goes into full swing and we find out how well they all work under pressure. (I'm now 50-50 between parties. Neither has what I'm looking for.)

#1, shades of monarchy. I wouldn't vote for Jeb Bush either, short of him being a reincarnated James Madison. This country has had a Bush or a Clinton for president since 1988 - longer than 1/3 of you have been alive, and longer than something over 90% of us here have been eligible to vote. Further, I suspect that Hillary Clinton will compare to Bill the way George W. Bush has compared to George H. W. Bush.

#2, I find her personally unlikeable. In voice, in appearance, in (to the extent that a common purveyor of news could ever know) personality.

#3, she appears to have the disconcerting combination of picking whatever side of an issue is more likely to improve her odds of being elected, along with having always sought the White House. Admittedly the latter is just an impression I have, I have no links handy to back it up, but nevertheless it's there for me, and ties into...

#4, she's unquestionably authoritarian. Don't bother posting that graph in response. This, from the snopes.com explanation of her quotes (and if you think I'm taking this out of context too, feel free to prove me wrong):
Hillary Clinton said:
Take health care. I think we could get almost unanimous agreement that having more than 45 million uninsured people, nine million of whom are children, is a moral wrong in America.
"is a moral wrong"? "It takes a village"? These are (to a libertarian) scary statements about how she views governmental authority.

That's funny. I had just completed an 11-page essay that stated that Hillary Clinton could learn a lot from George W. Bush's 2000 campaign and that 2008 could be the new 2000 (though probably not completely so), given the similar positions of the candidates in terms of the dynastic cycle, the legacies that are being followed, etc.

And if you want to take it further, a Bush or a Clinton has been on the national ticket one way or another since 1980.
