Will technology accomplish what the GOP could not?

So what you are claiming here is that they weren't ready and decided to launch anyway? Is that acceptable to you? Even remotely?

Some times democracy is messy and chaotic with Iraqis looting weapons from the arms depots, and stuff happens in a free democratic society like Freedom IEDs, and Freedom explosions. We know where it is north south east west somewhere ! You goto war with what you have not what you need ! Let Chaos Freedom reign !

I'm not claiming anything, actually. And remember all those posts I made where I said I didn't think this went well? :hmm:

All I'm trying to communicate is that I don't think we know the whole picture of the constraints the people in charge were operating under. Like that Supreme Court ruling - imagine if they had struck down the entire law but we found out that $100,000,000 had already been spent on setting up the 'architecture' of ACA. Republican would have been howling for heads to roll over this excessive waste of taxpayer money. Given that, was it prudent to hold off on some expenditures until after the Supreme Court decision was handed down?

Also, I don't know if this is possible, but could the administration have delayed launch - or was that set by the test of the bill that Congress passed? I don't know, and I don't know if the Adminstration could have unilaterally changed the dates without congressional input. Do you really think that Republicans would have allowed a vote on something that would enable a smoother roll-out? I strongly doubt it.

Why wait until April 2013 to start building the website if it is so central to the ACA working?
I never understood that part.
See above. I don't know if that's really the reason, but it doesn't sound implausible on the face of it.

Here's roughly what I think happened.

Hah, just kidding. I have no idea what technical disaster actually occurred. I just like linking that comic.
That was Awesome! I love the fact that the dialogue is all stuff that's actually been said

Yeah, it's such an efficient force that our healthcare system never needed any overhaul of any kind, right?
It's extremely efficient. And it's extremely uncaring.

Which is why it's such a spectacular bad idea to let the market loose on healthcare. Look at the damage they are causing by just lobbying.

It's not an efficient market force when contracts are allowed to be broken without penalty for the breaker. It's just fraud, plain and simple but the healthcare companies committed it daily. Even under strict libertarian style capitalism fraud isn't allowed and when it happens, you can't claim it's free-market forces acting because then it's not really a free market.

And i agree with your conclusion, btw, i just can't go along with market forces being efficient as applied to healthcare because there wasn't a free market there to begin with.

Nope, it's an admission the American Holocaust is about to begin. Get ready for life in the FEMA camp!
