Windows 8 fans are annoying delusional. Why would ANYONE want to use a SmartPhone OS on a computer? My computer is NOT a phone! I never got the appeal of SmartPhones anyone. I am ok with my $20 prepaid cellphone. I hate the Metro UI. Any other improvements are irreverent if the basic UI is broken and needs to be fixed with third party programs. Windows 8 sales are terrible, it has a lower usage rate than VISTA did at this point in its lifespan and we all know what a great OS Vista was now don't we?
Good thing you can use Windows 8 exactly like Windows 7.

Than explain the low usage rate? It is outright ******** you have use third party programs to get something as simple as the start menu back. Steve Ballmer is ruining Microsoft.

Hopefully they might fix some of this with SP1 if they have any common sense. A one OS for everything idea is a failure. PCs are not the same as tablets or SmartPhones. They should be treated as separate markets.

I think it's funny that he thinks casual users aren't upgrading to Windows 8 (those are the people who haven't upgraded at this point) because Microsoft tried to make a design which would appeal to more casual users.
It's not a smartphone OS. After I added and removed the proper programs from my start screen, I can't really tell the difference between 7-8.
I'd say 8 isn't selling well not because it's bad, but because 7 is already really good and 8 doesn't really improve on it much to justify paying for a new OS.

I'm not quite sure what you mean...
If you're not on the start screen, pushing the windows key will bring you to the start screen. If you're not on the start screen, pushing the windows key will bring you to the most recently used metro app. (For the purposes of multitasking, the entire desktop is treated like a metro app.)
The start screen essentially functions exactly like the start menu - in the backend, the folder structure is the same, anything you put in the "start menu" folder will show up on the start screen.

I thought that to use a Metro App, you had to be on the metro screen and to use 'regular' software you had to be on the start screen and you couldn't start a metro app in the start screen and vice versa.

The "metro screen" and the start screen are the same thing. I'm not really sure what you're asking.
