Winnie the Pooh banned from Polish playground - "inappropriate hermaphrodite"

Anyway. I thought Slavic nations were decidedly "Second World" nations.

(I'm definitely confused by the way this thread is going now.)

Besides, is there any haploid evidence for the low frequency of LGBT and BDSM in the Slavic mentality? I presume if anyone would know, you might.

I expect you to produce pages of relevant information instantly. This very moment. Sapristi!

Did they ruin Disney characters for Polish children forever?

Has there been some change to the Constitution which banned Winnie the Pooh from Poland?

Or was that in one playground? Oh I see - you assume that entire Poland has only one playground.

Not to mention that the article you linked in the OP does not quote any sources or evidence.

As for First World / Second World, etc. issues - this graph shows, that:

https://www.google.com.au/publicdat...0000&tend=1384988400000&hl=pl&dl=pl&ind=false

GDP per capita of "First World" Greece, Portugal and Turkey is now lower than GDP per capita of many Slavic countries.

And GDP per capita of other "First World" countries such as New Zealand, Italy, South Korea or Spain is not much higher.

Good luck getting that to work.

Most slavic countries seem to have issues with homophobia and anti-homosexual behaviour. My guess is that there are many varying reasons for this, depending on the country or region or whatever, but in the end it's a bit of a cultural artefact. 30 years ago the entire world was like that, wasn't it? 40 years? 50 years? Something like that? Maybe even ealier than that? I have no idea - my point is just that things have really been changing a lot in the west over the last couple decades. Parts of Europe just haven't fully caught up. Poland used to be a very religious country, a lot of people do not accept homosexuality for that reason alone. Slowly over time people in the country are becoming more progressive though, and increased economic conditions, the free exchange of ideas, open borders, etc. usually leads to a more progressive group of citizens, so.. this is going to change, but just not very fast.

I've never been to the slavic world.

One does not simply walk into the slavic world. Make sure you pack well and fly in or take a train.

edit: isn't the 1st/2nd/3rd world view of things outdated now, with the cold war over? Last I heard there were 5 types of worlds now.. or something like that...

I always thought it was quite clear from the song that Pooh was a male and even so I don't know how you confuse Pooh for a female unless the women in Poland are as equally masculine as the men.

I'm surprised you're so familiar with the town's council that you can confidently say that's the only thing they discuss.

The mere fact that it was discussed in session at all, let alone made the subject of motions and voted on, is ridiculous.

That's a good enough to reason to point and laugh. There's no need to assume anything else.

As someone who does the minutes for a community council, I have a special grievance against time spent talking about nonsense, eeeeven if it's funny after the fact. Some things can add 30 extra minutes of meeting time without meriting so much as line of notes!

So this town is officially endorsing anatomically correct toys?

I never thought that "Third World" was associated with low GDP. As such. Though it did get to be that way in public consciousness very quickly.

It was just a matter of being aligned with neither NATO nor the "Communist" bloc.

But, as Mr Warpus says, the term is probably long due an overhaul.

Why is Greenland red and Denmark green? Wouldn't that be (sorta) like coloring Alaska red by the rest of USA green?

Yes.

And why aren't Cuba, and Angola, yellow?

Still... you know... there's no figuring this all out satisfactorily at this stage of the game.

There are other issues with the map too. Eg apparently western Thrace= Second world, but Fyrom, Kosovo and Albania= First World.

I think that Greece was '1rst world' until there actually was a 1rst world around (early 2000s) but only barely. Now it is second world/whatever, like most of the rest of the globe.

PS: Turkey likely is 1rst world-ish or 2nd world/whatever, only in the westernmost bit (Thrace + coastal).

I haven't found anything about this in Polish news and I still don't know what is the source for what the OP claims.

Oh maybe this - this case is from the town of Tuszyn (article puiblished 3 days ago):

But there is nothing about "banning Kubuś Puchatek (Winnie the Pooh) from a playground".

The controversy is whether to name a playground "Kubuś Puchatek Playground" or "Miś Uszatek Playground". Miś Uszatek is a native Polish bear:

BTW - is it true that Alan Alexander Milne cut his balls with a rusted razor when he was 60, due to his mental problems ??? Supporters of Miś Uszatek claim so. Anyway - the article posted in the OP has distorted everything in this story. It is a dispute about name of a new playground, not about banning something or someone from it.

You must admit that Miś Uszatek is more decently dressed than Winnie the Pooh. Miś Uszatek is also healthier - he is not a fat guy.

Winnie is good for Fast-Food eating Westerners who forget to put on their pants when they go to work. Uszatek is a better role model for children.

Uszatek is also a redhead so it teaches children that they shouldn't discriminate minorities just because of an unusual hair colour.

That's how gossips spread. And nobody even mentioned what the argument is REALLY about. All manipulate.

Nobody has mentioned Miś Uszatek. Miś Uszatek is not famous. Uszatek cannot into the West. :(

Miś Uszatek > Winnie the Pooh.

Winnie is a loathsome Fast-Food Honey Eater. And then you have 12 year olds weighting over 100 kg in the USA.

1st, 2nd and 3rd World are political-economic concepts that date to the Cold War, and don't make that much sense nowadays.

Note that according to that map the richest nation on Earth (Qatar) is considered part of the Third World.

I remember Uszatek! He was awesome. He never took off his pants.

But.. so.. this was all just a sensationalized news article that's full of holes? Who wrote the piece - Fox News or one of those British tabloids? Or is all "journalism" now so crappy we can't even get honest plush bear news anywhere?
