as I said before, I like the little community here. i also like the way we have just the right amount of actual neses and we all know what kind of people are opening them. New people will come, we just got a few good new players in the past few weeks (Kal'thzar, Dachspmg etc...). if we went to OT we'd have weirdos opening new neses every day. Good neses would be drowned out in a sea of "UBER NES, EVERYONE HAS A BAJILLION INFANTRY!". I say we stay.
No, honestly? Who needs traffic when we have a good old community here? Those who REALLY need NESing will always find their way here. Others won't, unless they get lucky.
We used to get recruits often, because of the fact that a lot of people read Civ 3 stories, and that is linked to here. Once Civ 4 comes out and this forum falls into disuse, do you believe that we will get any new blood (which I for one think is an excellent thing).

Bajillion infantry lol...seriously a NES with a bajillion infantry would asskick.
Anyway with the death of Sheep`s Mars NES we have no sci-fi NES at all,so who would be interested in an Alpha Centauri NES?I`m curently trying to shift the AC universe into a NES form(Energy would be economy,minerals would be industry blah blah).Because of my lack of free time and poor writing skills I would make a lousy mod,so a good mod would be needed.
Anyway share your thoughts about this.Feel free to shot this down I have plenty ideas left
i was thinking of a good idea for a nes today in school, i'll inform you about it later but now isnt the time or the place, plus i wont mod it i've got my wwii nes which i am quite happy with
i modded mine rather quicly (only about the second month that i had started nesing) though the nes died quickly 'cause only a few people joined. If you want to mod go ahead but make it last
Heh, I only started my first NES after I played just one... My first NES was the second one ever. But anyway, as soon as you think you're ready, you can start.
I don't care much for fresh blood. We are getting enough of it as it is. Besides, even Civ I community isn't completely dead yet. So...
i think the only logical places to go are under the "world history" forum or under the "other games" forum (maybe under diplomacy, in other games, but that's for board NESes)
none of the NESs have had anything to do with CIV3 or any other Civ game for a VERY long time.
EDIT:
as for recruiting. i doubt too much of it is realy from people reading the stories and tales and going "ooohhh, what's this 'NES' thing, think i'll check it out."
i've seen a couple posts where people see a sig with an NES list and ask about it. i've known a couple that came here by recomendation from a neser and i've dragged a couple people in here, screaming and kicking.
the biggest downside to moving would be that we would probably end up in the "announcments" for a little while. and we'd get a bunch of randomly curiuos people who would start flame wars and then leave. then we'd inherit an increased forum MOD presense here and that can NOT be a good thing.
not that i have anything against mods, but some of the IC flame wars have been the best moments in the NESs and i wouldnt want some overzealous MOD to stop them.
