Would the GOP types push the USA into default ?

As near as I can tell, Republicans have offered compromise after compromise, while the Obamacrats keep up with the same old, 'My way or the highway'.

You know, I just cannot see it. Medicare has some serious complications that were well articulated during the 2008 campaign. These complications are so serious that they're honestly worth compromising over, in order to fix. Obamacare was passed without fixing these complications, but I find it boggling that no Republicans were willing to cross the aisle in order to implement Obamacare that included a fixing of Medicare.

Seriously, a serious compromise effort could really have created a much larger fix (of a much worse problem) whilst getting some type of novel healthcare legislation passed. It's just very frustrating. There was a boggling lack of crossing the aisle to fix the actual problem.

The compromise here was delaying it for a year to spare the President the embarrassment of the rollout thus far. It was in idiotic strategy for the GOP. They should have just let it burn.

The best way to break the stalemate is to put a clean resolution on the floor of the House. If the GOP are actually against it, it will not pass and then it will be Obama's move. Boehner claims the votes are not there for it to pass. There is one way he can prove that.

Root of the problem. Right there.

Nice, but I kinda like the one where the couple argue about going to the bank to increase their borrowing limit in order to pay for their lifestyle.

The hubby is all for it (he likes the feeling of power he gets from supporting his loafer friends), while the frau is more interested in living within their means.

You do know that the household-government metaphor isn't a perfect parallel, right? People do know this, right?

I mean, I can't go "liberate" my neighbor's kids from brainwashing homeschooling, can I?

What was the deal in July?

John Boehner and Reed had worked out a measure that would continue government function that was 70 billion less than the original Senate plan. Boehner than straight up said no because "Me and my colleagues have to make a stand against Obamacare."

Ah, then there are three budgets proposed?

1) Extends just these gov't services that have since been shut down.
2) Extends total government budgets, except for Obamacare.
3) Is the whole shebang, and includes Obamacare.

Basically, but the 3rd and only realistic option is many months old. It's sad to say the least.

I'll go for the household metaphor and call for Boehner to graciously submit.

Good call, except that Barack should be the one to 'graciously' submit.
I am sure it would do his parents proud how well he compromised for the good of the land of his birth.

Except in this case the Republicans are the ones acting like a toddler, holding their breath turning blue, all because they refuse to go to sleep. But you can't hold your breath forever - and either way, your body is going to take the rest it needs.

The longer you tantrum, the more foolish you look and the harder you'll crash, and that crash is inevitable.

So, the raging debate is "who actually decides whether and which federal services are closed" in right-wing forums.
