If you won a lottery for $5,000 USD (or your local equivalent), how would you spend it?
I have no debt, and getting ready to retire so money isn't critical, so probably on entertainment. Take a golf trip, something for the wife.
I say that but I know my daughter would end up with an expensive gift. She knows how to play her father.
Put it into a retirement account. $5,000 now + power of compound interest = retirement sooner.
Buy my first car, a used Honda Civic. Save the rest. Just got my license yesterday!
Replace some things lost to the mold situation two years ago
Fix the organ (the pedals don't work; organ repairs are expensive)
Set some aside for vet expenses for Maddy/any new cat I adopt
Go somewhere that isn't Red Deer; I've been out of town exactly twice in the last 15 years and both times were since March, for surgery in a nearby town.
I'll save it, part of it in the form of gold perhaps because inflation can be quite crazy, you cannot trust money these days.
I like to invest on property in the future. And thank God I have 0 debt.
Travel. Take some trip I've been too cheap to take before.
Amortization of mortgage loan
I don't need $5,000 and I'd feel guilty about getting it for free, so I'd just give it away.
Probably just save it or stick it on the mortgage.
I've got debt, but payments are proceeding is planned. I don't need anything in particular, so I'd invest in some more stocks.
Throw it in my savings account, which would roughly double in size
throw it on the pile
Gambling is one of the few vices I don't have, I've tried it and I dislike it, but if someone else gave me their lottery winnings I'd go to Iran and visit Persepolis, Isfahan, the Behistun inscription etc.
I'd buy myself a K-Car, a nice reliant automobile.
I'd probably want to put 1k of it towards a trip somewhere and use the rest to pay off debt.
Save it right now. Later this year I might have an expensive move, so I might need it.
Not much else, money isn't really an issue. My accomodations during the next (unplanned) trip might be slighty better maybe.
It’s going into my student loans.
I'd use it for longer than usual travels, maybe Galapagos or Nepal and Bhutan.
