12 reasons why "bitter" is bad for Obama: Politico

Hillary doesn't have a shot. The media is making itself look elitist by assuming that that small town America cares more about bowling and coffee than the issues and aren't smart enough to figure out anything beyond the soundbites the media is feeding them.

This is one of the dumbest news stories ever. I'm ready to quit all of this and become a sportswriter

I'm constantly suprised how emotinally Political campaigns are in the US.

Moderator Action: Stay on topic.

If this is seriously what brings Hillary back then with God as my witness I shall never vote nor speak another word on this sideshow called "American Politics".

It's interesting to see people jump down Obama's neck over this but not over Ferrarro. She can speak for black people but Obama can't speak for rural whites or his campaign is over..

PC is subjective...

It definitely makes Obama sound like he is pandering to the San Francisco elites. However, I really don't like how Senator Clinton is responding though... true to form. :( I don't think it will help her in the final solution, but it could have an effect in November.

Spam aside, it really doesn't matter whether Obama had a point or not. What it looks like, is that Obama is pretending to be all knowing and caring with the rural voters when he's out there - and then he goes back to the big coastal cities, sits with the other elites, and laughs about the rubes who believe in God and shoot guns. A hypocrite who doesn't care, in other words. And a hypocrite is what every other politician is supposed to be - so where's this messianic "change" coming from if he's just like every other politician who has ever screwed them over?

No, I don't think this will have a significant effect on, well, anything. At best, or worst, depending on your point of view, maybe it'll cost him three quarters of a percentage point in Pennsylvania and gain him even more support with the liberals in the cities. ("See? They even get offended when you talk about how ignorant and stupid they are! Plebs are so tiresome.") But I do get why some people are annoyed by this, even though you guys don't seem to.

I don't see why anyone cares. Barack won't win those votes anyway. He's aiming for city blueclass workers and hardline liberals. The Republicans can have the rednecks.

Except, an awful lot of Democrats in states like Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania are the blue collar (Blue collar, not blueclass Gecko) workers, who often live in the kinds of towns he was sneering at. Enough to turn the nomination to Hillary, this late in the game? No. But enough that Obama will have to work extra hard to court them this fall.

I meant blue collar, sorry. All Barack needs to do is call McCain on the economy and no level of slander and name calling can reverse that. Americans aren't that stupid.

Yes? And how is McCain responsible for the economy? And how is Obama's backdoor protectionism going to help things?

Protectionism is horribe, but both parties practice it. There really isn't anything that either of them can do with the outsourcing situation. McCain on the other hand isn't willing to do anything to the economy. Neither of them can really do anything, but McCain looks more like an . .. .. .. .. .. .. . on the subject

If you become a sportswriter, then even you will become wrong on all your predictions ;)

Of course, but everybody will forget the year afterwards, so I won't really have any accountibility for my actions.

Hey, maybe sportswriting is a lot like political work after all....

Both parties practice it? Clinton did a lot for free trade, but overall the Democrats are actually now far more protectionist. (Which is weird, because the Republican party, as the Northern party, was originally the more protectionist party) And what is Obama doing to the economy that's actually good that McCain isn't? Do you know, or are you just assuming he would, because he's a Democrat, and that makes him awesome?

I put that neither of them can really do much. Just that McCain is telling that straight, Obama on the other hand is saying that there can be things done.

His comment was pretty tame and I suspect the writer wrote the article just because he wanted to say "liberal elite" and "latte liberals"

I don't see this having much of an effect on anything to be honest.

Those rednecks are the people that win candidates elections idiot. With friends like this Obama doesn't need any enemies. You do more harm for him than good, same as Ron Paul supporters.
