Yes, Phoenix is very tough.. they are starting to get on my nerves like the Spurs. They had Duncan, Phoenix has Nash.

I just can't tollerate the idea of losing to Phoenix after having eliminated the Champs..

Mavs in 6

:wow: Excellent work by Nowitzki. He took it upon himself to make up for the previous game and he did it with a bang. You just have to congratulate him on such a magnificent effort, but I still believe that if this is what it takes Dallas to win, then Phoenix might actually win in seven.

50 points? That was the greatest performance I've seen in the playoffs by one man in a long time.

Detroit Pistons are finally out...it will most definately be a Mavs-Heat final. Shaq had a massive game and even Wade who was a bit sick did decently - how about Jason Williams who went 10-12 FG or some crazy number like that (making his first 10)!

Don't worry, the Mavs will beat them ;)

I hate the Heat, why, oh why did they make the NBA Finals?

Because Detroit played most of the series like they didn't care whether
they won or not?

And then there were two. Heat v. Mavs

I always root for the Eastern Conference team, unless perhaps it was the Toronto Raptors or the Charlotte Bobcats. I don't see either reaching the finals in the next decade.

Why not? With Bryan Colangelo building the Raptors around Chris Bosh, and with cap room available, the Raptors are on the rise again, IMHO. I'm not saying they'll compete for the championship next season, but they've got as good a chance to get to the finals in the next decade as, say the Celtics, the Magic or the Hawks...

Hah, you went for the lowblow in putting the Celtics with those teams.

Dwight Howard > Chris Bosh, I think the Magic have brighter future right now than the Raptors do.

This is going be an awesome NBA Finals...Mavs in 7.

I'd like to see the Mavs win just to watch David Stern have to present the
championship trophy to Mark Cuban.

How is that a lowblow to the Celtics? Toronto started 1-15 and didn't have Bosh for the last 10 games and still was comparable. Doc Rivers is crap (Mitchell too, imo).

Howard is still all about the potential. I drafted him early in my Fantasy league this because I was so high on him, expecting him to blow up. Well he really didn't this year and still lacks any sort of finesse to his game. Bosh is an elite player in any case. Howard is a physical beast but I think it's somewhat unfair to imply that he's on a totally different level talent-wise than Bosh, at least so far. Howard is going to be great no doubt, but I think Bosh will be as well.

I think what partly turned Orlando around was Detroit's mishandling of Arroyo and Darko, essentially giving young talent away for free because they thought they didn't need it (That's starting to look bad now, for Detroit). That's what gave Orlando such a boost.
Anyway to the rest of you, Toronto's future isn't that bad, not with Colangelo, Bosh and the number 1. I think we've weathered the storm. And I even like Charlotte, they have a good coach and Gerald Wallace is a great defender. They give effort every game.

I think Stern's going to have to do that. My instinct would say that the Mavs are gonna dominate the Heat, but maybe I'm wrong. I pick the Mavs in 6.

White boy has never been able to handle shaq. We'll see though. Shaq is half the man he used to be.

I went ahead and voted for the spurs because its who I was rooting for and I honestly thought they'd win it all again.

I disagree.
Bosh is already an all-star level power forward. Howard is still only a kid with a great body and a huge load of talent. He's not there yet. Until proven otherwise Bosh is still the better player.

Well, Howard already averaged the second most rebounds in the NBA. Bosh has him beat in points, but Howard is barely even 20...his potential is incredible, and he plays the same game as Garnett did before he really crafted his offensive skills.

Of course, both the Magic and the Raptors will need to put the pieces around Bosh and Howard a lot better than the Timberwolves have around Garnett.

I dont even want to touch the Hawks situation...I believe they have about 5 players who play the same position?? It seems that way anyway.

I think that Bosh is a better comparison to Garnett than Howard, only that Bosh so far has developed his game faster in terms of offense, and is quicker and more assertive taking his man off the dribble. The thing about Howard is that he can go for 25 rebounds in one game, and then 7 for the next couple of games. Yes he has awesome potential, but still has no finesse to his game and lacks consistency. If anything, given his power and build, I would compare him more to Amare, except Howard can actually rebound. He's not demonstrated great offensive prowess yet though. Most of his points are on open dunks. Still I think he is awesome, that's why I drafted him so early. But he hasn't exploded yet. And I honestly don't see how he is clearly such a better player than Bosh either, at least so far. However I don't want to hate on him, I like Howard a lot and who knows, maybe he will average 25 and 17 next year. They are obviously both elite.

Can you guys enlighten me about the whole Stern thing?

I agree, Mavs in 6. Nobody can stop Dirk now. Small or big, he'll beat you..

@Inter4 - Mark Cuban is a maverick owner who has had
many, many run-ins with the NBA office, and has been
fined on numerous occasions for his statements on
officiating, and criticism of how the NBA does things. So
it is assumed he is not on the list of David Stern's favorite
people. So it would be fun to see Stern present the
championship trophy to someone he would really rather
not.
