2020 Election Thread!!!!!!!!!

Surely you're not serious. That's the worst thing they could possibly do. Even the Kanye West suggestions are more likely to actually succeed.

I'm honestly sure Kanye would win in a landslide

Perhaps. The problem with Hillary (and I think part of why Hillary lost in the first place) is she is seen as an 'establishment' candidate. In other words, the country should not be an oligarchy where only a few families have all the power. Obamas, Clintons, Bushes, Reagans Kennedy's, etc. This is exactly the type of garbage the founding fathers were trying to escape from, and they would be appalled by what we have become in this regard.

Running Hillary again or Chelsea or Michelle Obama, etc... that would prove the dems really and truly haven't learned their lesson. The dems need a candidate that is not already part of an established name. They can still be 'career politicians' of course, but a self-made one.

If you think that any of the families you listed are even close to having "all the power" you are sadly mistaken.

They were also looking to get away from a King that had the audacity to not ban Catholics, so I'm not sure if we should be looking to them for political guidance.

The presidents we've had recently have been Bushes, Clintons, or Obamas. It has been the case since 1992. Clearly, we need someone else.

I'll give you "Clintons" because HRC ran a couple times but complaining about the Obama family having power is quite ludicrous. There isn't any "Obamas", just one Obama

I said 'presidents' as in actual presidents, not candidates running for presidents.

But yes Hillary has run twice. Now there is talk for Chelsea Clinton or Michelle Obama to run, which indicates the Democratic party does not understand the big middle finger the voters gave to the establishment. If voters will vote for a complete lunatic just to rebel against these established names, what chance would they have against a non-establishment candidate who even remotely makes sense when they talk and are a halfway decent human being?

Deval Patrick's name is popping up again. He declined to run in 2016. The story that Barack Obama is urging him to run has been around for a month or so, see below, but the name may be gaining traction and/or controversy, see second story.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up picking the worse possible candidate for 2020 and run on something along the lines of "Avenge Hillary!".

The Democrats need a robust field of attractive candidates to have an exciting race that attracts attention and voters, not an anointed-one plus seven dwarfs. I say the more the merrier.
I like Deval Patrick because we have the same birthday (also DeMarcus Ware and Mark Cuban). Unfortunately, young is not on his resume.

I think that the 2020 dem primaries will not go well, they'll be a little like the 1988 dem primaries with lots of candidates, none of them talented, none of them charismatic, except then the democrats had lots of governors so their candidates were at least experienced, 2020 dems will have significant number of "green" candidates running in primary. Also bitter fighting between Bernie and Hillary wings of party. Trump will likely win by complete luck.

I still think Trump will not run. Of the 2016 crowd, Cruz, Walker, Kasich and maybe Rubio have something going. Unless someone comes out of nowhere, like Cruz did in 2016, those are the players Democrats need to target.

Interesting, I still think Trump is going to win nomination.

If they're as green as Obama was in 08 the dems shouldn't worry

I find it unlikely that the democratic party will find someone with the incredible natural talent and charisma of Obama, and at the time the dems had a collapsing economy, ongoing highly unpopular wars in the middle east, and an extremely unenergized and somewhat divided base on the republican side going for them. But we'll see if your point has an element of truth to it.

edit: Also the democrats had 4 more senate seats (Barack Obama and Joe Biden having been senators) and 16 more governorships to pull experienced candidates from. Also a lot of the most experienced potential candidates have died or retired, (perhaps the young ones will make up for this)meaning that the pool of likely good candidates has significantly shrunk.

When will an American woman finally become President?
Who will it be?

I'd say 2024 at the soonest (Trump will probably get re-elected if done a decent job)

Suggested women:

Oprah Winfrey - Very Rich and Famous
Ellen Degeneres - Famous (rich?)
Kelly Ripa - ?

Are they democrats? dunno.
Perhaps some of you got better suggestions?

Elizabeth Warren. She could at least be considered a serious candidate, unlike everyone on your list.
