Political realities of running a Presidential campaign in the US.

Running an effective campaign requires
a) name recognition
b) political connections
c) money

All things which require lots and lots of time to accumulate.

I think it has at least partially to do with the fact that Clinton put pressure on potential rivals not to run for pretty much the whole length of the Obama administration. Their Congressional leadership is also notably old though so maybe it's something else.

The leadership on the Republican side isn‘t much younger either, so I‘m not sure it‘s fair to blame this on Clinton. It‘s more a reflection of the demographic change happening in our societies. „Management“ staying at the steering wheel longer as they live longer and when they get to power wanting to stay there just as long. So yes, Bernie was always too old to run (even if he‘s still very sharp of mind); or let me phrase it differently: in a country as huge as the USA, there is a „Bernie Sanders“ 25 years younger somewhere. But all the best for his recovery.

It looks like Biden and Bernie are giving way to Warren, who has skyrocketed in the last two weeks. Her targeting corporations and bouncing off her records thereof, and the - IMO - self-shooting kneejerk responses from those companies from Wall Street and Facebook - just keep building on and off each other.

Prog Policy wise, other Left Dems and Leftists should nudge and suggest to her thereof or at least keep it on her mind.

The Verge has some leaked audios (as reported by the Indy) confirming that Mark Zuckerberg is very much afraid because ‘if you have nothing to fear you have nothing to hide’ is usually something said by people with secrets (e.g. spies) and also (like Mr. Trump) is scared of a day in court regarding, say, his proposed new company scrips global currency scheme.

So bully for Warren then?

btw I'm not that deeply immersed in the daily US news feed. How possible/probable is it for Warren and Sanders to be on the same ticket?

Yeah, that's a heart attack 100%. They're trying to avoid saying it but that's absolutely what it was. It was cringeworthy listening to Sanjay Gupta trying to talk circles around it, especially with his campaign claiming that he might only be sidelined for "a few days", but he finally had to come out and say that "if it was a heart attack" he would have to be "out longer". The reality is that he really should be off the campaign trail for at least 3 to 6 weeks and after that he is also is going to need to do cardiac rehab for several months. It will be interesting to see how they try to keep this all quiet.

And yeah this does indeed suck, because this is just the thing his enemies need to legit come down hard on him about his age.

I agree with you that it sounds like a heart attack. Stints go into almost everyone (though not actually as useful as thought), but the timing and possible severity of this is potentially devastating.

Warren and Sanders avoid talking about trump. I don't think its a distraction either and even if it was that is not an excuse to ignore contempt for the law.

Yes, but we shouldn't let him hog all the attention either. We really should be framing the government's policies as the cause of why Things Are Bad™ rather than disassociating the two subjects.
As in ‘hey, the Repubs promise a Wall™ but they do so by taking money off the Army budget which means veterans are deprived of healthcare because of a lack of funds’, for example.

The media gives him that without any help from anyone else. If they weren't covering the impeachment inquiry and his resultant meltdowns, they'd be breathlessly reporting on all the other embarrassing and stupid things he says and tweets. It's been that way since he started his run for office in 2015. The amount of free coverage he gets is unreal and it often comes in forms that feed his fake news/lamestream media narrative.

Sanders was the only one of the bunch running that I found trustworthy and able to win. If he could run. This is bad news. You'll probably be stuck with a worsening divide for 5 more years.
